[FFML] Continue dead or abandon fics by other authors.

Generally speaking, it's insulting to even ask such a thing, because a 
fanfic is a very personal thing to a writer.

However, if someone has abandoned a story for any of a number of 
reasons--lack of time, has lost interest, just doesn't feel like writing 
anymore, whatever--and another writer is interested, and asks, and the 
original author is willing to grant permission, then there's no reason 
not to transfer ownership of a story.

But it will no longer be the same story.

It's like putting an engine from a different make and model car into 
your own car. It still looks like your car. It still smells like your 
car. But get it on the road, and it's not your car--it's the heart of 
some other car in the body of yours. Everything you know about your car 
is wrong, and it will never be the same car ever again.

Also, there's the little matter of possibly not being able to 
FIND/CONTACT the original author--given the transitory nature of e-mail 
contact these days, it's entirely possible you will never be able to 
track down the person who originally wrote that story. Even if you do, 
there's no guarantee they'll reply.

So it's a very tentative thing...in most cases, it's simply best to let 
dead fics rest in their graves.
