[FFML] Continue dead or abandon fics by other authors

I find myself curious, in a strictly academic fashion, what the longest
chain of fanfanfan...fics is, at least those with some small audience.  Let
us say, ones where at least 10 human beings other than the author read the
whole final story (regardless of the audience, or lack thereof, of
intervening story generations); most stories posted to this list would
likely qualify.  Start with the premise, from a literal reading of the
definition, that where the Bible retold and expanded on earlier stories
that were themselves adapted from yet earlier ones, those parts counted as
at least fanfanfics.

I wonder if this question is even answerable, with the original generations
of oral history lost.  Though perhaps approximations might be made.
