Okay, just to be clear, in part 5 (I think it was), Biaozi offered him  
the amulet, said keep this with you and I'll be able to track you by  
it, and told him that if he didn't accept the offer she'd be able to  
get someone else to do it. He agreed, then disposed of the amulet as  
soon as he got out of sight. Unknown to him, it was set to mark him  
just from his having carried it a little ways, so that he'd still be  
detectable even without it.

So I don't know if I'd call what he did THAT terribly stupid; he  
basically just underestimated how good of a magic item an Amazon could  
come up with. I'll have to give this some thought. I have no qualms  
about changing the story, even if I have to go back four chapters and  
rewrite from there, but I'm not quite sure at this point that it's  
necessary.
