Well, if I may get technical here, "unprotected" really means no condoms 
or other devices that would prevent the actual exchange of bodily 
fluids. It wouldn't rule out the pill or some Amazon herbal equivalent, 
nor would it rule out the good ol' rhythm method. True, there's no 
indication in the story that Shampers took any such measures, but still, 
the chance of a pregnancy from a single encounter, while not zero, isn't 
*that* high.

In any case, I think Tatewaki not wanting to go away would be a very 
likely outcome even without this complication. If Shampoo had known him 
better she *would* have likely picked Hiroshi or Daisuke. :)
