Noted, but I'm not sure how to trim it down without leaving the reader
completely lost.
> 2) Why Ranma 1/2? Why the "mapping" into those characters? Aside from the irony of Sasami and Ayeka's roles, I'm rather lukewarm about the rest. Why start at episode 1, especially if the joke at the end is that Ayeka and Ryoko ruin the experiment with their bickering?
Ties into the overall reason I wrote the fic, which I will get into on
your next point.
> 3) Please don't make this story "Tenchi and company reproduce the iconic moments from [insert anime here]! Hilarity ensues!" There's a lot of other things you can do with this premise.
The main thing I wanted to do, and the reason I didn't fix which Tenchi
series from which the characters hail, is that I noted that no matter
how far off the original premise the various spinoffs went, the
characters were still perfectly recognizable, and their actions could be
clearly predicted. Based on that idea, I wanted to throw them into
other universes, and see how they react.
The reason I chose episode one for Ranma - and for every other universe
I aim to launch them into - is that the first episode typically defines
the characters appearing in that series.
The intent is not hilarity - though that will be a by-product of any
universe containing Tenchi characters - but to see that no matter where
they go, there they are. That the characters remain perfectly
identifiable even in completely difference scenarios. Ranma 1/2 is
fairly close in theme to Tenchi Muyo, so it's a less jarring start. From
here, however, I will be putting them in very thematically different
series.
