They do get used on occasion, but very rarely as ninja, and Sakura's
mother more often than her father.  Usually they only exist to either
die, or to be obstacles to or proponents of Sakura's many and varied
romantic partners.

More people should do something with them, because they are - I think -
one the most significant background elements (character-wise) still left
completely untouched by canon.
