There's nothing 'unacceptable' about your story. You can and should
write as you wish.

Er, sorry. That was meant to be a helpful suggestion, not an
overbearing demand. >_<
Mostly, I was hoping to understand your goals for the story better; I
had thought my suggestions would be in-line with what I took as your
goal. I ... could be wrong. No one's perfect, especially not me. :)
If switching it over to troping/referring to the genre works, that's
awesome; don't feel obligated to make that change because of me,
though.
It's probably been said so many times it should be put into the FFML
FAQ, but I can be a jerk. >_>;
