Yes, I really blew it on Fujiwara.
The first bit is that I'm NOT working from the standard baseline.
Haruhi-ism here isn't a western monotheism, instead it's eastern all
things connected, big cycle of reincarnations. It isn't about the
battle between good and evil, but the balance between hot and cold.
Think Buddha, not Christ.
So Fujiwara needs a voice in the classroom, without putting his head
in the sniper scope. The only obvious fix is to have T&K work for him.
Kunikida is the one who mails Sasaki's HS application to the "wrong"
place.
Tachibana gets a lot more screentime to make her mistaken play for
winner takes all, to show that she's being manipulated from behind the
scenes by somebody. Perhaps have her transfer in from a Catholic
school. (I'm getting too fond of that, but what the hay.)
One scene that I considered was to have the espers appear together in
front of Kyon and explain how they can each enter the closed spaces of
one of the goddesses, but since the start of the semester those have
no longer been separated.
Suou could be more useful by saying things that make no sense at all,
except when viewed in hindsight.
The alien trio can be shown as being off-baseline by making them
elementals, but choose the dark elemental complements to paint them as
"Evil". (Ice/stone/acid or Ice/water/steam? And what happens to the
knife?)
And Sasaki needs to be more ambiguous about who it is she favors.
All in all, a big rewrite is needed. So it may take a while.
