Mostly, its funny. Makoto has always been portrayed as the warrior,
the fighter. Making her so laid back she's Kasumi Tendo without the
obliviousness is a recipie for hilarity.

I think it's breaking some kind of fanfic authorial code if I DON'T do
it once in a while . . .

That only covers Rei's reaction. Ami's reaction to Usagi's reaction to
Rei's reaction will be much more widespread.
I now have this mental image of a great smoking crater where Tokyo
used to be. In the middle is Makoto. One eyebrow twitches. Just once.
