[FFML] [News][Potter] Rowling Speaks on Dumbledore

Rowling has admitted before to reading some fanfics, without outright stating which ones...
probably because the authors would look again at her books and say "Hey... wait a minute... I
thought I got it right, but if she read my fic... which I finished three years before THIS
book..."
So... Dumbledore... gay. Useful info? Nope. Surprising? Nah. Like most of the stuff she says about
"her" world outside her published books (i.e. her blatantly idiotic comments on "How to Write
Dragons") it is nothing but the metaphorical equivalent of an attempt to add gasoline to dying
embers in the hopes of the fire burning a bit longer.
It is however a bit hipocritical coming from her since she did attack slash-fics previously saying
that some of them were disgusting if I remember correctly (ok, so I need the exact quote and
source, but I'm sure an actual HP fan or ff writer will have no trouble remembering it...)
What does this change? Nothing much... I have to agree with the horrid thought of yaoi girls
running around screaming but... seriously... Dumbledore/anything is just... wrong to imagine, much
less write, and yaoi girls tend to go more for the Snape/Harry/Lupin/Draco quartet. With some Ron
added from time to time.
This just reeks of publicity stunt ESPECIALLY after she couldn't get Ian Mckellen to play
Dumbledore. But, who cares anyway? Dumbledore was at best a mentor figure, gay or not, and at
worst just someone who thought it might be a good idea to pit 10 year old kids against the magical
equivalent of Osama.
