Well folks, sometime next week, I should be releasing the beta for
Exquisite Soldier Lovely Freesia, episode 1. In the meantime, I'll be
releasing the background files I have for the series, establishing the
alternate timeline and history for it. Tonight, I'll be uploading the
timeline itself, as well as background files for the Magical Girl Corps,
the myanarans, and the boomers. Monday, I should be uploading
profiles and histories for the major characters. These will be more
extensive than the ones that were posted when I began my Magical Girl
Fanfic Theater critiques a few months back.
In the meantime, enjoy, and let me know what you guys and gals think.
Since I'm still not quite up to taking the spam that the list is
well-known for putting out, feedback should be directed to my own e-mail
address.

Timeline for Exquisite Soldier Lovely Freesia
??? - Era of the Silver Millennium; Earth and Moon ruled by
Queen Serenity from her Moon Kingdom, aided by the Sailor
Senshi. Moon Kingdom brought down in struggle with Dark
Kingdom forces led by Queen Beryl.
1990's - Sailor Senshi reincarnated and bring down the Dark
Kingdom along with Queen Beryl and Queen Metallia. Sailor
Senshi earn some fame as they engage in other struggles
against evil forces that arise from time to time.
2002 - United Nations dissolved in favor of the United Earth
Federation (UEF), a true unified world government using the
republic model.
2021 - The Rainbow Incident; Earth's teens follow a fad of
coloring their hair in shades that do not occur naturally,
such as blue, purple, green, pink, blonde (for some ethnic
groups). One line of dyes used for this, put out by Silver
Millennium Cosmetics, ended up being defective in that it
mutated the hair color genes of those who wore the dyes in
question. As a result, the hair colors became permanent
while the descendants of those who used that particular
brand of dyes wound up inheriting the hair colors derived
from the dyes used.
2022 - In a stunning move, Nabicorp Communications was successful
in a hostile takeover bid for Genom. Rumors persist that
this was due to the combination of blackmail regarding the
untimely death of Dr. Katsuhito Stingray, the inventor of
the boomers, as well as the use of unknown persons with
unconfirmed abilities.
2025 - The Second Great Kanto Quake; Tokyo leveled in a major
quake. Recovery aided by the help of Nabicorp's Genom
subsidiary, the UEF and Nippon regional governments, and an
underground organization run by the Sailor Senshi and one
calling herself Neo Queen Serenity. Tokyo reborn as Hyper-
Tokyo.
2028 - The Boomer Holocaust; When it becomes known to the
authorities that sexaroid boomers had potentially
dangerous capabilities, they order them deactivated
and destroyed. Humans sympathetic to the boomers
organize an underground railroad and manage to save
about a third of the sexaroids from termination. This
operation expands to cover all boomer types, with the
liberated cyberdroids being exposed to a virus that
removed all blocks to self-awareness
2029 - The Boomer Emancipation Act; Amid controversy, the UEF
signed into the constitution an amendment declaring most
boomers to be sentients and entitled to all rights as
citizens of the UEF. In return, the boomers agree to
regulations designed to put them on equal footing with
humans, such as limits on production and capabilities.
Eventually, boomers are accepted as equal members of Earth
society and not regarded as mere machines, servants, or
tools.
2031 - The Loss of New York; Cultists in New York City revive
Jadeite, a surviving general of the defunct Dark Kingdom.
Elevated to the status of Overlord, Jadeite organizes and
carries out a plan to completely take over the city and
rename it New Youma Citadel. UEF military forces attempt a
recapture of the city, but are repelled and only succeed in
causing more damage to the city. In an effort to end the
bloodshed, the UEF strike a treaty with Jadeite and his
government, despite heavy protests from Neo Queen Serenity
and the Sailor Senshi. NYC is ceded from the UEF and
recognized as its own autonomous region, and UEF citizens
unwilling to live under Jadeite's rule are allowed to
relocate. Surprisingly few do so, and public opinion
indicated a willingness to throw NYC to the wolves.
2032-2035 - Several covert operations are carried out by both the
UEF and NYC against each other. UEF is ineffective in their
operations, while the NYC is barely contained by the Sailor
Senshi and their underground organizations.
2036 - Many high-ranking officials in the UEF retire, are dis-
missed, impeached, or otherwise purged as a result of the
ineffective policies and decisions regarding the rise of
Overlord Jadeite and NYC. The new heads of the UEF decide
to enter into discussions with Neo Queen Serenity and the
Sailor Senshi regarding the situation with Overlord Jadeite.
2038 - UEF and the Sailor Senshi agree to form a new, semi-secret
organization: the Magical Girl Corps. The UEF, observing
that the Sailor Senshi and other "magical girl" teams were
far more effective in dealing with Youma than were the
military or civil defense programs, agreed to co-sponsor
such an organization. Hino Rei, a.k.a. Sailor Mars, is
named as Supreme Commander of the MGC.
- Among the members of the founding team, the Starlight
Rangers, are Hino Miyako (first cousin removed of Sailor
Mars), Kadokawa Misa, Fujisaki Hikaru, Sakakibara Kimiko,
Koyama Noriko, and Tokawa Junko, aided by an intelligent
penguin named "Penko".
2039-2046 - The Starlight Rangers, along with other MGC teams
formed during the years, are successful in containing the
dark forces of NYC. As a result, Overlord Jadeite is
deposed and killed in 2045. Merkur, one of the rebel
generals, replaces him after the coup.
2047-present - Overlord Merkur reverses Jadeite's policy of
covert operations against the UEF and makes an outward show
of cooperation. However, he secretly encourages the youma
and humans under his rule to operate on a freelance or
mercenary basis, thus allowing them to cause trouble all
around. The UEF and MGC become aware of this tactic but are
unable to do anything about it except to deal with incidents
as they arise.
2050 - The Shooting Star Incident; UEF solar system patrols
detect an unidentified object on an approach vector to
Earth. Initially believing it to be a stray asteroid
or other body, the UEF military elect to intercept it with
missiles to avoid a collision. However, most of the mis-
siles are destroyed as they close in on the object, reveal-
ing it to be a ship of some sort. One missile gets close
enough to cause damage upon detonation. Further course
computations reveal that the ship will crash into HyperTokyo
unless stopped. Furious at the military's bungling of the
case, the UEF turns the matter over to the MGC, allowing
them access to whatever resources they may need.
- The Starlight Rangers are called upon to intercept and
board the ship. It turns out the ship was a colonial one
sent by the myanarans, a race of feline humanoids that was
under the belief that Earth was uninhabited based on mil-
lennia-old reports. It also turns out that the ship's
maneuvering systems were damaged by the missile attack,
locking it on its disastrous course.
- Team leader Hino Miyako elects to remain on board the ship
while the other Rangers return to Earth and join the other
members of the MGC focus their energies on her in an attempt
to safely divert the colony ship so that it would crash-land
safely. Lt. Toriyama Katsuhito, a liaison with the UEF
space agency, remains with Miyako on board. The operation
is a success, with the ship being diverted into Tokyo Bay
rather than crashing into HyperTokyo proper. Rescue crews
succeed in keeping the casualties down to a minimum.
However, the myanarans on board are now stranded on Earth,
and Miyako winds up losing her powers due to the incredible
amounts of energy that coursed through her. Miyako steps
down as an active member of the MGC.
2051 - The UEF amends the constitution to allow the myanarans
citizenship in the UEF, which they accept. Both terrans
(which include humans and boomers) and myanarans drop any
grudges, recognizing the Shooting Star Incident to be a
series of errors that was kept from becoming a disaster. To
this day, the vast majority of myanarans still reside in
HyperTokyo and are very cooperative in aiding the recovery
of technology from the shipwreck in the bay.
- Former Starlight Ranger leader Hino Miyako weds Lt. Cmdr.
Toriyama Katsuhito and takes over the duties of priestess at
the shrine run by the Hino family.
- The remaining Starlight Rangers disband and take up
administrative positions in the MGC.
- Supreme Commander Hino Rei, recognizing that her duties as
a Sailor Senshi are taking up too much time from her duties
to the MGC, appoints Kadokawa Misa as Chief of Operations
and second-in-command to handle the day-to-day running of
the MGC. Fujisaki Hikaru and Sakakibara Kimiko are named
Chief Tactical and Strategic Officers respectively. Koyama
Noriko is assigned to be Chief of Research and Development,
while Tokawa Junko is designated to be the MGC's liaison and
representative with the UEF.
2060-70 - The Star Tower project; A series of six arcology towers
are built in HyperTokyo with the aid of myanaran technology.
The six towers are in a five-point star pattern with the
largest one, Tower Prime, in the middle. Each level in the
kilometer-high towers is as large as a small neighborhood
and acts as such. Several lifts and skytrams connect the
towers and the surrounding city.
2074 - Toriyama Akiko, granddaughter of Toriyama Katsuhito and
Miyako, is born.
2078 - Takara Akira is born.
2079 - Miyakawa Mika, Mura Natsumi, and Ferris are born.
2087 - Mika meets Akiko meet during a New Year's festival held at
the shrine run by Akiko's grandmother. The two become good
friends, almost like sisters.
2092 - Akiko graduates from Mizuhara high school and enters
HyperTokyo University.
2094 - Mika, Natsumi, and Ferris enter Mizuhara high school and
meet each other. They become study partners under Akiko,
who volunteers her time for her alma mater.
- The International Association for the Advancement of
Pretty Boys (IAAPB) launches their successful lawsuit to
force the MGC to accept males into their ranks.
2095(present) - Mika is drafted into the MGC and becomes
Exquisite Soldier Lovely Freesia.
- Akiko is drafted into the MGC and becomes Exquisite
Soldier Crimson Rose.
- Natsumi is drafted into the MGC and becomes Exquisite
Soldier Golden Poppy.
- Ferris is drafted into the MGC and becomes Exquisite
Soldier Pretty Daisy.
- Takara Akira transfers to Mizuhara high school. Is soon
drafted as the first male in the MGC and becomes Exquisite
Soldier Wild Orchid.

Introduction & Mission Statement
The Magical Girl Corps (MGC for short) is a semi-secret organiza-
tion run under the auspices of both Neo Queen Serenity and the
Sailor Senshi, as well as the United Earth Federation (UEF)
government. Founded in 2038, the MGC's mission is to anticipate
and deal with the unique threat posed by the mystical race known
as the youma, as well as their allies.
To do so, the MGC fields teams of girls endowed with supernatural
powers throughout the world. These teams average five in number,
and are also assigned a liaison to keep them in constant touch
with MGC command, which is deep underground beneath HyperTokyo.
So far, these teams of girls, while not seeming to pose much of a
threat to youma, are probably the most serious threat to them and
their plans. No military organization to date has had much
success in dealing with the youma in comparison with the MGC, let
alone the Sailor Senshi.
While their primary mission is to deal with the youma and those
who support them either overtly or covertly, the MGC also assists
the UEF during times of disaster or emergency. Furthermore, the
teams in the field also assist the local authorities with fight-
ing crime.
History
On September 23, 2031, the world was taken aback when a strange
force overtook New York City within a matter of hours after
midnight. When dawn finally came to the city, the world learned
that New York was now under the dominion of Jadeite, a youma
general thought to be dead since the 1990's after a final battle
with the Sailor Senshi. Jadeite acted swiftly after his libera-
tion and victory, renaming the city New Youma Citadel and declar-
ing himself to be Overlord of all youmadom.
The reaction from the UEF was swift, as the military was deployed
within a matter of minutes, before the shocked Senshi could take
action themselves. Unfortunately, what seemed to be an easy
mission stretched on for weeks as the military found itself
unable to deal with the occultic powers at the youmas' disposal.
Even worse, the military's actions proved to be detrimental as
civilian casualties mounted.
The worst mistake the UEF and the military made, though, was to
keep the Sailor Senshi from aiding the mission. Fueled by pride
and stubbornness, the heads of state and their generals insisted
that they could get the city liberated and that they didn't need
any help from "a pack of girls."
As public opinion against the conflict grew and a sentiment to
throw the city and its denizens to the proverbial wolves grew,
the UEF entered into secret negotiations with Overlord Jadeite
and his minions. After a month of talks, the UEF announced that
the conflict would end and Jadeite would be allowed to control
the city. In return, Jadeite ceased hostilities and allowed any
humans that wanted out to escape. While it was no surprise that
much of the Earth's population did not mind losing New York to
the youma, it was surprising that very few humans elected to
leave the new youma capitol. Reports revealed that the humans in
the city treated Jadeite's rule like any other government and
they didn't care one way or the other. They just wanted the
military to leave them alone.
While Jadeite ceased all overt hostilities, he still maintained
covert forces that engaged the UEF at various times. Luckily,
the Sailor Senshi helped out the UEF many times with these
actions. By 2036, it had become apparent that the heads of the
UEF and its military were incompetent in dealing with the youma,
and were removed from power in various ways. This was speeded up
when the public learned that these heads could have avoided the
tragedy of New York and allowed the Sailor Senshi to take action.
With a new administration, the UEF entered into talks with Neo
Queen Serenity and the Sailor Senshi to come up with ways to deal
with the youma threat. By 2038, a solution was found. The UEF
agreed to co-sponsor a new organization, the Magical Girl Corps,
which was run under the guidance of the Sailor Senshi. The
Senshi known as Sailor Mars volunteered to head up the organiza-
tion, while Sailors Mercury and Jupiter saw to the development of
its technologies and combat techniques respectively.
Judging from personal journals, Sailor Mars (who was Hino Rei
outside of her duties as a Senshi) had her own agenda in leading
the MGC. First off, she wanted to make sure that each team in
the field had a competent leader. In her words, she "wanted to
make sure no ditz would ever lead a magical girl team ever
again." She also wanted to make sure that, while the Senshi
could not be all over the world at any given time, there would be
a similar team ready anytime, anywhere. She was also under the
opinion that the military needed cleaning up after from time to
time.
Soon after the organization was founded and the headquarters was
set up deep beneath HyperTokyo, the first team was picked. To
lead the Starlight Rangers, Supreme Commander Hino chose her
first cousin removed, Hino Miyako. Other team members included
Kadokawa Misa, Fujisaki Hikaru, Sakakibara Kimiko, Koyama Noriko,
and Tokawa Junko. For their liaison, a penguin with intelligence
boosted to human levels was picked. This liaison's name was
"Penko".
As soon as the Rangers, as well as the other charter teams formed
soon after, took to the field, the fortunes of war changed and
the youma were on the losing side. Back at New Youma Citadel,
the youma were growing impatient with Jadeite and his apparently
ineffective strategies. By 2045, a group of generals and other
high-ranking officials had carried out a planned coup de etat and
removed Jadeite from power. The former Dark Kingdom general was
executed within a day of the coup and one of the generals,
Merkur, was named as his successor.
The relations between the independent city and the world govern-
ment changed soon after. Overlord Merkur declared a cease-fire
between his forces and the UEF forces. Instead, he instituted an
official policy of neutrality with the UEF. However, while the
policy was official, he also set up a system of independent teams
of youma and other like-minded individuals to act as "terrorist"
groups. While having no official support from NYC, these teams
would get covert supplies and funds in return for pursuing
certain goals and objectives. It took decades for both the UEF
and the MGC to catch on to this more subtle strategy, but there
was nothing they could do about it due to the thorny question of
proof. This situation continues on until this day.
As a result, while the MGC, as well as the UEF, was not involved
in any conflicts with New Youma Citadel, they still had their
hands full with the various terrorist and mercenary groups that
sprung up since 2045. The only mitigating factor in these small
conflicts was that it was relatively small groups that the MGC
had to deal with, not a small, but belligerent world power.
The year 2050 proved to be one of the shining moments in MGC
history. On July 18th of that year, a large object was detected
approaching the solar system parallel to its axis at high,
near-light speeds. Further course computations showed the object
to be on a possibly collision course with Earth.
Assuming the object to be an asteroid, the UEF Space Force
followed standard procedures and launched a battery of missiles
at the object in order to destroy it before it reached Earth. To
Space Force command's surprise, all but one of the missiles were
destroyed before reaching the target. The remaining missile came
close, but detonated before hitting the target. This caused a
slight change of course. Unfortunately, this was not enough to
avoid a collision with Earth. In fact, further computations
showed that the object would come down on HyperTokyo.
Working on the new hypothesis that the object was an artificial
one, possibly an extraterrestrial vessel, the UEF decided that
contact was desirable. Working quickly, the Space Force assem-
bled a team to take a ship up and intercept the object to try to
further change its course to avoid Earth entirely. Someone high
up in the UEF hierarchy got the idea to send a MGC team up with
them to cover all bases. After a quick video phone conversation,
Hino Rei decided to send up the Starlight Rangers, which was a
top-notch team by then.
After two days of flight, the combined teams got their first look
at the object, which proved to be a rather large alien vessel.
Following a heated conversation with the ship's crew once trans-
lator protocols were established, the contact teams were allowed
onboard. A quick discussion with the crew of the alien ship
revealed that the ship belonged to the myanarans, a race of
mammalian creatures that were humanoid in body structure, but
featured feline traits such as fur, tails, cat ears, etc. The
ship was a colonization vessel, with the passengers in cryo-sleep
during the trip. Working on erroneous reports, the myanarans
believed Earth to be uninhabited and sent the vessel to establish
a self-sustaining colony for the race's survival.
Faced with the fact that Earth was indeed inhabited, the myana-
rans dropped all claims on the planet and offered to share the
world with the humans, boomers, and youma currently inhabiting
it. Noting the use of the word, "share", the teams asked why
didn't the myanarans change course and move on to another world.
The myanarans pointed out that because of the missile attack
earlier, the maneuvering systems were damaged and the course was
locked. Unfortunately, the engineering crew was unable to get to
the damage and fix it due to the ship being locked into an
automated mode until it got near its destination.
Once the ship was in communications range, the crew of the ship
as well as the teams got in contact with the UEF, Space Force
command, as well as MGC command and assessed the situation.
Unfortunately, there was not enough time to either bolt on some
makeshift maneuvering engines or to completely evacuate HyperTo-
kyo. Fortunately, the MGC was able to come up with a solution,
albeit a desperate one.
The plan was to gather all the teams, excepting the Starlight
Rangers, and focus all the power at their disposal towards the
approaching colony ship in order to force a diversion. Unfortu-
nately, one member of the Starlight Rangers would have to stay on
the ship to act as a focal point for the energy, and the process
had the possibility of being fatal to that member.
Much to the dismay to the team members under her command, Hino
Miyako volunteered to be that focal point. As the remaining team
members and the Space Force team returned to their own ship, Lt.
Toriyama Katsuhito elected to remain behind as well, to see to
Miyako's safety as best as he can. What he didn't say was that
he had fallen for the magical girl and greatly admired her
leadership and bravery in that situation. Luckily for him,
Miyako returned those feelings once their teammates were off the
colony ship, in appreciation for his dedication and willingness
to face the danger with her. The pair remained on the bridge
while the crew went into cryo-chambers for their own safety.
On July 23, the MGC's plan went into motion as the ship passed
lunar orbit. As the combined powers of the magical girl teams
combined in a phenomenon that remains unexplained, Miyako began
to feel the effects course through her body and take hold of the
ship. As the powers reached up and started to affect the ship's
course, Miyako felt excruciating pain in her inner being and all
Lt. Toriyama could do was hold her hand in attempted reassurance.
Eventually, the powers faded out and the ship came down in
relative safety in the middle of Tokyo Bay.
The crash still caused some damage, but it was small compared to
the damage that would have been done had the ship came down in
the city proper. The casualties in both the ship and the city
were also considerably lower than was expected. Luckily, both
Hino Miyako and Lt. Toriyama Katsuhito were among the survivors,
though Miyako was in critical condition as a result of the MGC's
actions.
Almost immediately, the local government in HyperTokyo set aside
an area within the city for the now-stranded myanarans. Within
days, the myanarans that were rescued from the ship were ac-
quainted with life on Earth and how to make their way on their
new world. In less than a year, the UEF amended the constitution
to allow the myanarans citizenship status and all rights and
privledges under the UEF government, alongside the humans and the
boomers.
As for Hino Miyako, she had survived, but not unscathed. The
pure power that coursed through her on that ship burned out her
own powers and abilities as a magical girl, rendering her a
normal human woman. Luckily for her, she had a lot of support
from Rei, as well as her teammates and especially Lt. Toriyama.
While forced to step down from the MGC except in a advisory
capability, Miyako took over the Hikawa Shrine, which was run by
various members of the Hino family for generations. Within a
year of the incident, Miyako married Lt. Cmdr. Toriyama and
settled down to a normal life.
During that time, Hino Rei was finding that her duties as both
Sailor Mars and as Supreme Commander of the MGC were interfering
with each other. Seeing that the remaining Starlight Rangers
didn't have the heart to continue on as field agents, Chief Hino
decided to promote them to administrative positions. Level-
headed and reliable Kadokawa Misa was chosen to be Chief of
Operations, effectively becoming second-in-command of the entire
organization and responsible for the day-to-day operations.
Fujisaki Hikaru was promoted to Chief Tactical Officer. Due to
Fujisaki's occasionally rash behavior, Sakakibara Kimiko was
selected to be Chief Strategic Officer to balance her out with a
more patient and long-term view of any given situation. Both
were put in charge of the teams in the field.
Koyama Noriko, having a mind for technology, was picked to become
Chief of Research and Development. Her duties were to come up
with new tools and devices for the MGC. Tokawa Junko, the most
diplomatic of the Starlight Rangers, was assigned to be the head
liaison between the MGC and the UEF.
Hino Rei remained as Supreme Commander, but was now able to take
a more hands-off approach to running the MGC, leaving most
details in Kadokawa's hands. Indeed, she tends to spend more
time with the Senshi again while trusting the MGC to be in good
standing.
After the arrival of the myanarans, things returned to normal as
the UEF and the MGC resumed their seemingly endless task of
putting down small, independent teams of youma. One item of note
is the lawsuit brought about by the International Association for
the Advancement of Pretty Boys in 2094. Pointing out laws in the
UEF constitution forbidding sexist practices, The IAAPB sued the
MGC to allow males to become members of the organization. To
everyone's surprise, the lawsuit was successful and in June of
2095, Takara Akira was selected to become the first male agent,
serving with the newly-formed Exquisite Soldiers based in Hyper-
Tokyo.
Also of note concerning the Exquisite Soldiers is the fact that
another team member is the granddaughter of Toriyama Miyako,
Akiko. Another link between the Exquisite Soldiers and the
Starlight Rangers is that the team liaison for the Rangers, Penko
(a penguin with boosted intelligence) became the liaison for the
Soldiers. The unusual thing about Penko is that between her
stints, she had her brain transferred from her aging natural body
and into a mechanoid one in the shape of a penguin robopet.
Organizational Structure
As mentioned above, the MGC is ultimately headed up by Hino Rei,
holding the rank of Supreme Commander. She makes all of major
decisions regarding the MGC and is personally in charge during
times of emergency. If the situation is not an emergency, or if
her duties as a Senshi are interfering, she'll trust Kadokawa
Misa to take charge.
In most situations Kadokawa, being Chief of Operations, will be
the one everyone else reports to. Being second-in-command, she
only answers to Hino Rei and her decisions are almost always
considered to be as if they came from Chief Hino herself.
Below Chief of Operations Kadokawa, the hierarchy of the organi-
zation branches off. One such branch is tactics, with Fujisaki
Hikaru serving as Chief Tactical Officer. It is this department
that is primarily responsible for the teams in the field.
Another branch is strategy, headed up by Chief Strategic Officer
Sakakibara Kimiko. This branch coordinates the teams and sets up
the long-term plans of action. Interestingly enough, Sakakibara
was given the ability to override decisions by Fujisaki should
they prove to be rash or detrimental.
Supporting both tactics and strategy is research and development.
In charge of that department is Koyama Noriko, and she is given
carte blanche in order to develop new tools, devices, and even
powers to give the teams an edge in dealing with the youma.
The smallest branch is the public and government relations
branch. Tokawa Junko heads this branch up and is responsible for
creating a diplomatic buffer between the MGC and the UEF as well
as the public at large.
As for the teams themselves, they are assigned to various regions
around the world. Each major region has its own headquarters,
with all headquarters reporting to the main base deep beneath
HyperTokyo.
Each team has a liaison that keeps the team in constant contact
with their regional headquarters. Usually, this liaison is
either an animal or robopet with boosted intelligence to appear
inconspicuous, or a responsible authority figure. The liaison's
duties are to relay orders from headquarters to the team, relay
requests from the team to headquarters, and to supply devices or
powers as necessary. The liaison is also the one to greet (or
even sometimes pick) each team member upon their activation (or
drafting).
Also, each team has a leader. She is usually the first one to be
picked, and remains leader in most cases. When it becomes
apparent that another team member is more capable of leadership
than the current leader, a team vote is enough to change leader-
ship. This was instituted on purpose by Chief Hino to insure
that all teams in the field had competent leaders.
Each of the other team members tends to have one specialty or
another. Usually, these specialties reflect the general struc-
ture of the MGC, such as tactics, strategy, research, and such.
The number of team members might vary, but it usually averages
out to five plus the liaison.
All of the teams tend to have civilian support personnel to aid
them in their missions. Usually, these allies give them medical
treatment as needed, supply bases of operation as well as infor-
mation, and other important needs.
Operations
The vast majority of the work to be done in the MGC is carried
out by the teams in the field. Each team is made up of members
selected from the locality to be protected. The uniforms of the
team members share some common characteristics within that team,
and the codenames assigned to them also follow a theme.
While powers and abilities used by the magical girls vary with
each individual, they all share some common abilities. Each
magical girl is equipped with an ID protection field to safeguard
her anonymity. This field not only works on people in the
immediate presence of the girl, but it also affects live broad-
casts as well as recordings the girl may end up in. The overall
effect is that while someone seeing the girl may notice some
general features, they wouldn't be able to recognize her.
Naturally, the ID protection field has no effect on other magical
girls.
All magical girls are also enhanced in certain ways. Their
strength, reflexes, and stamina are boosted in order to help them
in battle. Their physical measurements may also be boosted in
certain cases in order to throw off anyone who might try to ID
them. The aging process is also drastically slowed, if not
suspended, for as long as the girls serve in the MGC. The girls
usually are given an appearance of being in their early twenties
as a magical girl, while their civilian appearance will be in the
mid-twenties at the very oldest. There are currently magical
girls in the field approaching their sixties but still maintain-
ing younger bodies. This tends to lend to a situation of vast
experience while still having a body in its prime.
As mentioned above, each girl has her own set of powers and
abilities, geared towards her role on her team. These powers fit
within four broad categories: offense, defense, healing, and
surveillance/information gathering. Generally, each girl starts
out with two or three powers, but gradually adds more to her
repertoire as time passes.
Each team reports to a regional headquarters, which in turn
reports to the main headquarters in HyperTokyo. General direc-
tives are handed down from HyperTokyo, but each regional head-
quarters has a large amount of leeway in the interpretation of
those directives and how they're carried out.
While the MGC gets most of its funding from the UEF as well as
from the various organizations run by the Sailor Senshi, cutbacks
have forced the MGC to rely more and more on the proceeds from
the various entertainment shows based on the exploits of the
teams in the field. Naturally, most of the details are changed
to protect the magical girls depicted in such shows.

Introduction
The myanarans are a race of mammalian sentients that have taken
up residence on Earth in the year 2050, when events caused one of
their colony ships to crash land on the planet. Stories of
previous extraterrestrial contact notwithstanding, they represent
Earth's first contact with a sentient species not from that
world. While humanoid in physiology, they have many traits
common to feline species.
Their arrival on Earth has caused several changes on the outlook
of the human, boomer, and youma races that call Earth their home.
For one thing, it has driven into their collective minds the fact
that they are not alone in the cosmos, as many have already
suspected. However, aspects of myanaran history have caused
consternation among some regarding other species out there.
Physical Description
As mentioned above, the myanarans are a humanoid race with feline
features. These features include golden fur that is spotted not
unlike a cheetah's, a tail, a pair of pointed ears that rest
higher on the head than human ears would, retractable claws in
both the hands and the feet, sharp teeth as befitting a carni-
vore, feline eyes, and a muzzle in tan fur. They also have hands
similar to human ones, feet that are slimmer and more arched than
those of humans, and hair that is long and straight which ranges
between red and brown in color.
Myanarans are also somewhat taller than humans, reaching heights
between 6 to 7 feet (1.8 - 2.1 meters) tall on average. Their
average physique resembles that of a well-built human. Their
sexual characteristics are also similar to or slightly more
impressive than those of a human.
However, while appearing similar in physique, myanarans are also
remarkably stronger and more agile than a human, though not quite
approaching the levels of certain boomer categories.
Their senses are also remarkably more acute than those of a
human, particularly in terms of eyesight, smell, and hearing.
Sexually, they are compatible with other humanoid races, includ-
ing humans and humanoid boomers. Such unions would not produce
offspring due to genetic incompatibilities, but they are possi-
ble.
Psychological Makeup
The myanarans as a whole tend to be aggressive in many ways. It
is especially easy to start a fight with one, though unwise.
Unless convinced or forced otherwise, they will continue fighting
until their opponent is decisively defeated or they are.
They are also very aggressive sexually. Due to the discovered
sexual compatibilities, myanarans will pursue humans, and, to a
lesser extent, humanoid boomers in addition to members of their
races. However, such liaisons tend to be shorter-lived than
typical myanaran-myanaran pre-mating relationships. For one
thing, humans tend not to be able to keep up with a myanaran's
needs and desires in that department, thus, a myanaran might not
find the relationship satisfying. For another thing, they do
sense a humanoid boomer's artificial status and quickly grow
bored with the relationship, even though the boomer in question
would be quite capable of standing up to the urges and drive of
even the most amorous myanaran. This is not to say that the
myanarans would shun such relationships. As long as the person
in question is attractive in their eyes, they will pursue, even
if the results are short-lived.
On a related note, myanarans almost uniformly are psychologically
incapable of grasping the thought of same-sex relationships and
desires. It is deeply ingrained in their psyches the pursuit of
the opposite sex, and anything else would appear to be a total
waste in their eyes. The reaction of a myanaran to a person that
is involved in such relationships will vary from individual to
individual. Very few myanarans are accepting of the idea samesex
relationships and are considered strange by their fellow myana-
rans. Even fewer are those that have or have had involvement in
such relationships first hand. That involvement is kept very
secret in order to avoid shunning, but it is eventually found
out.
Another generality of the myanarans is their tendency to rash
thoughts and actions. They are an action-oriented race, and will
act on the first thought in their heads in a given situation. It
is rare to find myanarans with more long-term thinking, and they
realize it. Such myanarans are given great esteem amongst their
people, and they are considered leaders among them. If they are
convinced conclusively, they will also follow the directives of a
human or a boomer. Convincing them, though, is easier said than
done.
Social Conventions
The myanarans are very clannish, with great emphasis on their
families. Mating, similar to human marriage, is for life and
divorce is hardly even contemplated, let alone followed through
on. Family leadership is on an equality basis, with both male
and female parents on even footing. Even clan leadership is
shared between the eldest mated pair.
Myanarans favor an extended family structure, with an extended
family keeping within the same neighborhood, almost as if it were
a compound. While nuclear families (father, mother, and off-
spring) occupy their own homes in that neighborhood, the extended
family sticks close together. The patriarch and matriarch in the
family tend to be given the best residence in the neighborhood as
a show of honor and respect. The only times when a family member
might leave the family neighborhood would be if one was going off
to gain a higher education abroad, if one were shunned for some
reason, of if a family was splitting off to form the basis of a
new extended family.
Myanarans tend to place family honor before their own individual
honor. If one's own actions are found to be dishonorable or
shameful, as defined by myanaran customs and standards, then
those actions reflect on the family they came from. Likewise, if
an individual achieves a great accomplishment or is found to be
living an upright life, then it reflects on the family as well.
Conversely, the reputation of one's family affects how other
myanarans treat an individual.
Relationships between myanarans are many before mating. This is
due to their impulsive nature. Also, pre-mating sex is treated
as a normal occurrence, and is quite common. If such a union
causes the female to be pregnant, though, mating is strongly
expected of the couple. As stated above, such occurrences would
be limited to myanaran-myanaran relationships due to genetic
incompatibilities between them and other races.
Another aspect of their pre-mating sexual habits is that they
tend to start earlier than humans in certain aspects. A typical
myanaran will begin to experiment sexually when they hit puberty,
but will not engage in intercourse until they turn sixteen. The
myanarans themselves have determined that this is due to a racial
instinct than out of social convention. Adolescent myanarans
tend to limit their experimentation to close friends, but some
will freely engage in such activity with a willing partner their
age.
As far as interracial relationships go, the myanarans are accept-
ing of them. Once it was found, soon after their arrival on
Earth, that myanarans were sexually compatible with humans as
well as android/humanoid boomers, the myanarans simply treated
such liaisons as natural. However, such relationships tend not
to last too long. The reason is that while the sex would be
briefly enjoyable, most humans don't have the endurance necessary
to keep up with a myanaran. The typical myanaran has reflexes
and strength that are superior to those of a human, thus only
those humans in the best shape would even have a chance of
keeping a myanaran satisfied.
As for boomers, the myanarans tend to develop a vague dissatis-
faction with them, even though a boomer can easily keep up (if
not outpace in certain cases) with a myanaran. Researchers have
theorized that myanarans that have been involved in such rela-
tionships may have developed a minor complex about the boomers'
artificial nature and find such relationships boring in the
physical sense. The only relationships between a myanaran and a
boomer that have lasted a significant amount of time were the
ones where a boomer actually presented a challenge to the myana-
ran partner.
Even without the limitations mentioned above, interracial rela-
tionships tend to be limited to pre-mating, casual liaisons.
This is not so much of a racial snub as it is the myanaran
emphasis of family. Since myanaran couplings with either humans
or boomers will never produce children, myanarans seeking to
begin a family (which constitutes the vast majority of the
myanaran population) view interracial relationships as dead ends
ultimately. The rare instances of myanaran matings/marriages
with humans or boomers involved those who had little hope of
starting a family in the first place.
Relations With Other Races
While the initial encounters between the myanarans and the
residents of Earth were bumpy when the myanarans crash-landed in
2050, relations have smoothed out between the newcomers and two
of the three races that called Earth home. The myanarans have
learned to coexist with the humans and boomers that make up the
majority of Earth society within a short amount of time, but they
regard the youma as if they were blood enemies.
Of the three other races now occupying Earth, the myanarans get
along with humans the best. The myanarans were surprised at how
accommodating the humans were when they were first stranded on
Earth. While Captain Lekuris had mentioned sharing the planet
with the humans while the colony ship was on a crash course for
Earth, no one had made any mention of assimilation into Earth
society. Soon after the crash and the myanarans were settled
into survival camps close to their crash site, the humans had
made the offer to make the myanarans equal citizens in the United
Earth Federation. With very few alternatives other than living
in some remote portion of Earth due to their being stranded, the
myanarans accepted.
When the humans made good on their word and made the myanarans
equal to themselves in society, the myanarans decided that the
humans were a race worthy of their respect and honor. As they
stayed on Earth and learned more of humans and their ways, the
myanarans found more to admire about the humans, such as a
greater emphasis in long-term thinking and creativity. They also
found things that made them curious to say the least, such as a
tendency towards relative prudishness as well as their general
preference to disregard some of their instinctual impulses.
The myanarans are also on very good terms with the boomers, who
are also made to be on an equal basis in Earth society two
decades previous to their arrival. While initially uneasy about
the fact that the boomers are of an artificial nature, the
myanarans have gotten used to them over time and consider them to
be admirable as a race. The myanarans especially appreciate the
work ethic and adaptability of the Boomers, as well as their
resiliency.
The one race on Earth the myanarans dislike are the youma. This
stems from a series of unprovoked attacks various youma groups
carried out against the myanarans soon after their arrival. This
alone had enraged the myanarans as a whole, and due to their
tendency towards groupisms, have marked the youma for life as far
as they were concerned. Once they were made aware of the past
record of the youma on Earth, they were livid. To date, no
myanaran has ever cooperated with a youma in anything. If
anything, the vast majority of myanarans will attack a youma on
sight, despite the risk such an act would bring.
Brief History
The myanarans came from a civilization that covered five systems
that lay midway towards the galactic core from Earth. They were
a colonial society seeking to expand their territory in peace due
to their high reproduction rate.
It was an eventuality that the myanarans would encounter other
civilizations, despite the precautions they took in selecting
worlds for possible colonization. Unfortunately, while the
myanarans were relatively peaceful, they ran across a race that
did not share that same sentiment. Sometime during Earth's
fifteenth century, a myanaran scout ship ran across a colony
planet of the zakis, a race of amphibians also bent on expansion.
However this expansion came at the expense of the civilizations
that fell before them.
The myanaran empire put up a valliant fight to defend theirselves
when the zakis came with a massive fleet. However, once two of
their colony worlds were wiped out by the zakis fleet, the
myanarans transferred all of the surviving colonial fleet to the
colony world of Lemiris IV, the farthest colony world from the
incoming fleet. Also transferred were the myanarans that were
found to be most fit to carry on the race wherever they went.
The myanarans were pressed for time as the zakis advanced. By
the time the colonial fleet was readied and the precious cargo
was loaded into the cryo-chambers on board, the myanaran home-
world had already fallen and the zakis were on their way. In
short order, the colonial fleet was launched, the ships taking
scattered courses to various points in the outer rim. These
destinations were hastily picked based on outdated scouting
reports. The departure almost went smoothly, except that the
zakis arrived earlier than usual, just as the last wave was
preparing to enter subspace. That last wave did not make it and
went down with the last world of the myanaran empire.
Among the ships that made it to safety was the Zukara, commanded
by Captain Lekuris. While the crew and passengers were in a
cold, dreamless sleep, the Zukara went on its 600-year journey to
what was reported to be a habitable world orbiting a small yellow
star with no civilizations of note.
Captain Lekuris was brought a few days prematurely out of cryo-
sleep after the Zukara entered its destination system. Stepping
onto the bridge with the rest of his hastily-awakened crew,
Lekuris was informed by the ship's computer that the automated
defenses went up and shot down several missiles that were fired
its way. Further reports revealed that one missle got close
enough to damage the maneuvering engines, locking it on a crash
course with the destination planet. After a quick consultation
with his crew, Lekuris determined that the reports from centuries
ago were indeed wrong and there was indeed a civilization
there...one that was most likely hostile. Lekuris ordered the
repair crews to fix the engines, but it turned out that they were
unable to do anything. The majority of the damage was only
accessable from outside the main hull, and access to the outside
was locked off by the main computer due to the high velocity of
the ship.
After two days of trying to find a way to avoid the collision or
at least keep the casualties as low as possible, the crew was
surprised when a small shuttle from that world had come within
communications range and tried to contact them. It took a few
hours to figure out how to adapt their communication systems to
translate what the shuttle crew was saying. Once they understood
each other, it was revealed to the myanarans that the ship was
approaching a planet called "Earth", and that the missiles were
fired in error since the authorities on Earth thought the ship
was an asteroid or some other stellar body.
Once a pair of teams from Earth was allowed on board the vessel,
more information was exchanged. Commander Frank Darden and
Starlight Ranger Hino Miyako informed Captain Lekuris that the
ship was on a course that would cause it to crash in HyperTokyo,
a heavily-populated city on Earth, following up with a request
that the myanarans change course to avoid disaster. Lekuris told
the Terrans that the ship was locked on course, thanks to the
damage their missiles had inflicted on the ship. Lekuris offered
to arrange for the survivors to coexist with the Terrans peace-
fully in exchange for a place of refuge.
After much consultation with Earth authorities once the ship came
within communications range of the planet, refuge was granted.
As this was going on, Hino was in communication with her superi-
ors at the Magical Girl Corps and a plan was hatched. Captain
Lekuris stood in disbelief when Hino relayed the plan to him,
which was to focus the mystical energies present in most members
of the MGC onto the ship to try to deflect it towards the ocean
rather than have it crash into the city. Hino further informed
him that she would be staying on board during the operation to
act as a focus for the energies. Having little alternative,
Lekuris agreed and the teams went back to their shuttle, leaving
Hino behind as well as a Lt. Toriyama Katsuhito, who volunteered
to stay with the young woman.
Much to Lekuris' amazement, the plan worked and the ship was
diverted slightly so that it landed in Tokyo Bay. The force of
the energies involved also decelerated the ship enough so that
most of the myanarans onboard survived. The plan came at great
cost to Hino, though, as she lost her powers and was subjected to
great pain. From that point on, Lekuris had the utmost respect
for humans in general, and Hino in particular as well as Toriyama
for staying by her side the entire time. The two are still
honored among the myanarans to this very day.
It took a few days to gather the myanarans (of whom 95% survived
the ordeal) into an area just outside of HyperTokyo and to begin
a crash course on the ins and outs of Earth society. After a few
months, the newcomers were ready to be accepted and assimilated
into their new home. Instead of giving them a separate land of
their own, the United Earth Federation offered the myanarans
citizenship and equal rights as fellow sentients. Overwhelmed by
the generosity of the humans and boomers, the myanarans accepted
and began the process of becoming permanent members of the United
Earth Federation. In return, the myanarans offered to share what
technology of theirs survived with their new neighbors.
Early on during the assimilation period, the myanarans were
attacked on several occasions by teams of another race that
shared Earth, the youma. Learning all they could about the
hostile renegades, the myanarans prepared themselves to deal with
them and declared them to be blood enemies. Soon, the youma
learned just how fierce the felines were in battle and brought
the raids to a halt. The myanarans, for their part, supported
all measures that opposed the youma from that point on.
The myanarans also cooperated with the United Earth Federation in
preparations for a possible invasion by the zakis. No one knew
when the zakis would arrive, but the myanarans were sure that the
ampibians would make their way to the outer rim in due time. It
was decided that they would keep their ears open for any contact
from any myanaran colony group that escaped the onslaught at
Lemiris IV in order to establish an alliance.
While unable to scavenge the FTL (Faster-Than-Light) drives that
powered the Zukara, the technology that was able to be scavenged
was put to good use. As of 2095, Earth had established thriving
colonies on the moon and Mars, as well as a greater number of
orbital colony stations. A fleet of ships capable of sublight
speeds travelled throughout the system, establishing defense
outposts and mines.
Back home on Earth, the technology also improved life greatly.
Cities began to sport arcologies thanks to myanaran architectural
techniques. Agriculture also benefited, as well as communica-
tions and defense.
By 2095, the myanarans were well-established as Earth citizens
and well into their second Earth-born generation. The zakis, who
had forced the myanarans from their homeworlds centuries before,
had not arrived, to the relief of all on Earth. However, no
other myanaran colony has been contacted to date, and speculation
goes on as to the fates of the other groups.

Relations With the Other Races
Introduction
In the early 2020's, mankind built what could be one of its
greatest creations. The cyberdroids, known throughout Earth
society as "boomers", are a race of artificial, sentient human-
oids that are capable of labor more strenuous and hazardous than
the humans could handle.
What really marks the creation of the boomers as one of mankind's
greatest achievements is not their mere existence, but how
mankind eventually accepted them as equals rather than as mere
servants.
Brief History
The first boomer was created by a team of researchers led by Dr.
Katsuhito Stingray in 2020 at BioEscape Corporation's Wiz Labora-
tories. Dr. Stingray and his team was charged with creating a
cyberdroid capable of aiding the burgeoning space colonization
effort. During the following two years, Dr Stingray and company
was able to improve the performance and capabilities of the
boomer as well as bringing down production costs.
By 2022, Wiz Laboratories had received substantial capital from
Genom, an international conglomerate that had its own plans for
Dr. Stingray's creations. When Dr. Stingray got wind of those
plans, he threatened to go public with them. Brian J. Mason, an
up-and-coming executive in Genom, assassinated the doctor and
destroyed Wiz Laboratories in order to keep a lid on those plans.
Had Genom been able to keep the plans, as well as Dr. Stingray's
assassination, secret, the world would be a very different place.
However, this was avoided thanks to another large conglomerate,
one that specialized in media and communications.
A few months after the destruction of the labs, which was written
off as accidental, Genom was faced with a hostile takeover theat
from Nabicorp Communications. Tendo Nabiki, the CEO of her
namesake, had somehow gotten wind of the plans as well as the
assassination and engineered a buyout of Genom using the informa-
tion as blackmail. Unconfirmed reports have it that she backed
up her threats by the use of individuals with unusual abilities.
Faced with the prospect of the knowledge going public, Genom CEO
Quincy surrendered control of the company to Tendo. He soon
found work again as a high-ranking executive at Gulf and Bradley.
As for Mason, his body was found a few days later in the Tokyo
sewer system.
Tendo had little idea what to do with her newest acquisition,
since her career had been in the exchange of information. So,
she left Genom in the hands of the executives she felt to be
trustworthy and let them run the subsidiary as they saw fit.
Soon, Nabicorp's Genom subsidiary started to produce boomers for
all sorts of markets, in addition to their original purpose for
work in space. It didn't take long for boomers to spread
throughout Tokyo as well as the world.
This proved to be a bad thing in 2025, when Tokyo was rocked by
the Second Great Kanto Quake. It was bad enough the quake
leveled the city and took over one million lives, but there was
unforseen consequences. Much of boomer labor force of the city
had been damaged in their braincases, leading to many incidents
of boomer violence and rampages soon after the quake. The police
forces, what little there were left, was unable to cope with the
boomers and were soon overpowered by them.
Nabicorp/Genom, joined by other corporations, lent a hand in
funding a new police organization, the Advanced Police (AD Police
for short). The AD Police was a military-strength force assigned
to deal with the boomer violence as well as the mass rioting that
took place in the quake's aftermath.
Not long after the AD Police finally got things under control, a
pivotal event occured in space. In 2027, four boomers on board
the space station Genareos went rogue, killed a few humans, and
escaped to Earth. Led by a maintenance boomer by the name of
Armstrong, the group began to carry out a plot to release a virus
on their fellow boomers. One that would destroy the mental
blocks in place to prevent boomers from gaining self-awareness.
Armstrong was eventually caught before he could carry out his
scheme. However, before his destruction, a lone woman going by
the name of Sailor Mercury held a brief conversation with him in
an effort to talk him into a peaceful solution. Unfortunately,
while Armstrong was self-aware, he also had delusions of godhood
and that prevented Mercury from finding a peaceful solution to
the mess.
Unknown to anyone else, except the Sailor Senshi for whom they
were working for, a news team from Nabicorp Communications had
recorded the conversation from a distance. Soon, the tape was
broadcast over the corporation's news network, stirring contro-
versy worldwide. While Armstrong was as insane as he appeared to
be on the tape, it was quite evident that he was sentient.
Philosophers and theologians debated over what to do with man's
self-aware creations, and many started to sympathize with the
boomers.
Events in 2028 pushed the sympathizers into action. When it was
discovered that not only were there so-called sexaroids in
existence, but they shared some components with combat boomers
that made them dangerous, the authorities that regulated boomer
production ordered the destruction of the illegal models.
Several groups of sympathizers decided to do something. This was
especially prompted by the fact that of all boomers in existence
at the time, the sexaroids were the most human. While most
sexaroids were unfortunately destroyed as ordered by the authori-
ties, several were rescued by underground groups both on Earth
and in the space stations. Those very groups might not have been
as successful as they have been if it weren't for the indirect
backing of the Sailor Senshi, as well as from Nabicorp chairper-
son Tendo Nabiki.
While the biggest source of income for her Genom subsidiary was
the manufacture and sale of boomers, Tendo still had a soul and
could not turn her back on what could be a new race of beings.
So she arranged for information leaks here and there for the
sympathizers to take advantage of. Soon, shipments of boomers
were hijacked and the cargo liberated. Being in possession of a
copy of Armstrong's virus, Tendo had it modified and secretly
released to select sympathizer groups so they could truly liber-
ate the boomers.
Tendo also worked with the Sailor Senshi, Neo Queen Serenity in
particular, in drafting and pushing the Cyberdroid Emancipation
Act through the United Earth Federation legislature that year.
They met strong opposition engineered by Gulf and Bradley, now
headed by Quincy. However, due to persuasive arguments over the
boomers' sentience, the CEA passed in 2029.
Immediately, Nabicorp Genom released a new model of boomer
brains. The model 12 brain was similar to the model 11 that
preceded it, except that the mental blocks were removed and the
consciousness within was conditioned to socialize better than
previous boomers. Existing boomers were sent to special schools
after their upgrade in order for them to handle sentience better
than if they were suddenly self-aware. By 2030, the boomer
workforce was equipped to cope with society and the rights that
were granted them.
The immediate period after the CEA's passage was not peaceful.
Groups opposed to giving boomers equal rights waged a terrorist
campaign for two years until it became apparent that most of
human society had started to side with the boomers. As for the
boomers, some did not handle sudden sentience very well and went
on rampages, usually revenge-motivated. However, the ramapges
died out over time due to the progressing socialization of the
boomers, as well as the eventual phasing in of the model 12
brains.
By 2034, a second generation boomer was created in Nabicorp
Genom's laboratories, under the watchful eyes of Dr Haynes and
his assistant, Sylia Stingray. The boomer, named Adama after the
first boomer, proved to be able to assimilate into human society
far better than the boomers that preceded him. The boomers
contracted Nabicorp Genom to start immediate production of the
second generation, which became prevalent by 2037.
While the boomers were busy assimilating into human society, they
also joined the conflict with another society that rose to power.
In 2031, New York City was taken over by the youma, led by
Overlord Jadeite. While relations between themselves and humans
were still quite shaky at the time, it became quite clear that
the youma would be even worse should they become the dominant
race on Earth. So, the boomers allied themselves with their
former masters and fought the youma, managing to help contain
them in years of messy covert battles. When the armistice of
2047 came about, the boomers were disappointed that the youma
remained in control of what was now New Youma Citadel, but at
least the youma were seemingly contained.
With that out of the way, for the most part, the boomers turned
their attention to space. The vast majority of boomerkind
reached out and took their position in space as envisioned by
their creator, Dr. Stingray. By 2050, the year of the Shooting
Star Incident that brought the myanarans to Earth, seventy-five
percent of the boomers in existence resided and worked in space.
After the myanarans told their human and boomer hosts about the
zakis that destroyed the myanaran empire, the boomers became the
backbone of what would be Earth's defense forces throughout the
solar system.
The only other milestones of note are the introductions of the
third and fourth generations of boomers, each improving their
relations with their fellow races. The third generation of
boomers came about in 2055, developed by Drs. Sylia and Mackie
Stingray and funded by Nabicorp as directed by Tendo Nabiki in
one of her last directives as CEO of the corporation. Soon
after, she disappeared after naming Tendo Natalia as her succes-
sor.
Tendo Natalia took the reins and guided the corporation as if she
knew how to do so for years beyond her apparent age. In the late
2060's, she directed Nabicorp to fund the development of the
fourth generation of boomers, which were finalized in 2073.
It should be noted that there is much mystery surrounding Nata-
lia. Her origins are untraceable, with the only thing known
about her supposed past being Nabiki's word that Natalia was a
distant relative. The rumors increased over the years, leading
to varied conclusions such as cloning experiments, membership in
the Magical Girl Corps or Sailor Senshi, or a boomer replacement.
What throws people off is the fact that she runs Nabicorp with
the practiced ease that her predecessor possessed, as well as
maintaining a tight relationship with the Sailor Senshi like
Nabiki had before her disappearance.
Boomer Classifications as of 2095
Over one-half of boomers in existence consist of the easily
recognizable mannequin and labor classes. These boomers make up
the vast majority of the boomer workforce in both space and on
Earth, and fill a variety of roles from construction to civilian
peacekeeping. The labor boomers are the most varied in appear-
ance, and do not necessarily fit in a humanoid shape. The
mannequin boomers are quite humanoid in appearance, but maintain
blue or gray skin shades to differentiate themselves from humans.
Another third of boomerkind consist of combat models. These
range from the BU-60C combat boomer which is capable of human
disguises, to covert models hired by UEF intelligence agencies,
to the SpaceHawk battle boomer used in deep space patrols. While
the BU-60C is capable of a human appearance, as well as the
covert models, the SpaceHawk is too distinct to pass as human,
posessing a larger head module to accomodate docking with a
thruster and weapons platform for fighter-like patrols, as well
as a body designed for a modular rearrangement to better facili-
tate high-speed flight through the vacuum of space.
The remainder of boomerkind falls in the humanoid classification.
This, of course, is the most human of all boomers since they are
derived from the now-defunct sexaroid class. They differ from
their predecessors in that they are incapable of merging with
weapons platforms, which made the sexaroids extremely dangerous
in the first place, as well as no longer having the dependence on
human blood that sexaroids had. In fact, they are so close to
being human that it takes surgery to distinguish the two.
Humanoids, which come in both genders, occupy mostly service-
sector jobs, as well as positions in teaching, medicine, and
administration. Many are also hired by various governmental
organizations. The Magical Girl Corps, for example, employ many
humanoids...predominately female, of course.
Social Conventions
Unlike their biological neighbors, Boomers are not born. Rather,
they are manufactured in assembly plants under their control, as
dictated by the CEA of 2029. All boomers begin life as unen-
hanced mannequins and immediately begin three years of socializa-
tion training upon activation. It is during these first three
years that the boomer establishes his or her individual identity,
personality, and place in the world. Also during that period,
the boomer learns how to deal with others around them and to
react accordingly. Basic manners, ettiquite, and protocol are
drilled into the boomer's brain, along with the skills of a
typical high-schooler from either the human or myanaran races.
Much of this training period is spent among high-schoolers of the
other two races, particularly during the second and third years.
In the third year of life, the boomer is allowed to choose his or
her vocation, the type of body that they would have, and the
appearance they would have. Of course, the vocation chosen would
have a great effect on the latter two. For instance, there is
little call for a humanoid body among combat boomers, and vice
versa. Once these choices are made, the contents of the boomer's
brain is downloaded into the new body and the mannequin is
recycled for a new boomer.
Should a boomer fail during the socialization period, he or she
is given as long as necessary to successfully integrate with
society. When the boomer proves to be too sociopathic or other-
wise harmful to society, then the personality is wiped and the
mannequin is recycled. The termination process is kept under
tight scrutiny since boomer lives have equal value with human and
myanaran rights as sentients. Luckily, less than one percent of
all boomers fail the socialization process after the typical
three years, and a mere fraction of that are terminated due to
irreversable sociopathy.
Once the socialization period is done, the boomer moves on to
training in the new body and vocation. This typically lasts
another two years as the boomer learns to handle the new body as
well as the skills needed in the life chosen. While vocational
training usually takes longer for humans and myanarans, most
skills can be programmed into the boomer since he or she is of a
mechanical nature. The time taken by the boomer is spent mostly
in testing as well as adapting to the new body.
Most boomers are done with all of their training within five
years. Upon completion, they move on to their role in life.
Usually, the boomer will stick with this role throughout their
lifetime or until they are outdated for their profession. It is
rare for them to switch to another career, and even if they do,
it's to a similar career. A boomer will not switch bodies,
though, since the time and effort to retrain for a third body is
hardly worth it.
While boomers would seem to organize themselves into a classist
sub-society, they do not behave as if they are in one. Boomers
freely intermingle amongst themselves and others, no matter what
sector of society they are in. To a boomer, the role they have
in life affects what they do to earn a living, not who they
associate with. Naturally, they'll make friends with other
boomers, but they'll also be friends with humans and myanarans
they're around.
Romantic relationships do exist among boomers, since they have
the same basic emotional needs that humans (and myanarans to a
certain extent) have. Within most classes of boomers, relation-
ships are kept amongst themselves due to strength and aesthetics
concerns. However, humanoid boomers freely have relationships
with the other two races as well as each other.
As far as sexual mores go, the humanoid boomers are almost up
there with the myanarans. They do not possess most of the
inhibitions that humans have, except as manners and protocols
dictate. On the other hand, they aren't quite as promiscuous as
the myanarans. Quite unlike the myanarans, they make little
distiction between heterosexual and homosexual relationships.
Getting back to the subject of vocations, how long they last in
that vocation depends on that very vocation. Combat and battle
boomers face the shortest effective careers as techology is ever
on the advance and any given model is outmoded as this happens.
Once this happens, they move down to a training or support
position rather than a frontline one. Obsolence happens more
slowly among labor, covert, and mannequin boomers, and is almost
non-existant among humanoids.
The effective lifespan of boomers have not been determined to
date. There are many boomers in existence in 2095 that date back
before the CEA of 2029. However, humanoid boomers do age and
some of the sexaroid boomers that were converted to humanoid ones
are beginning to die off like humans do because of their extreme
similarities. All non-humanoid boomers do not face this problem
and last as long as regular maintenance keeps them in effective
operation.
Relations With the Other Races
Boomers get along with humans the best. Despite the treatment
they got from the humans during the first decade of their exis-
tence, the boomers have grown to forgive them based on humanity's
actions in the last few decades. Humanoids and humans especially
get along together, due to the high level of similarities between
them.
They also get along with myanarans quite well, only being put off
by the (decreasing) regard they get from the feline creatures as
mechanical dolls. Humanoids also get somewhat shoddy treatment
from the myanarans due to their bisexual nature, and are often
puzzled by it.
The youma are a different story altogether. From the start, the
youma has made it clear that if they were in charge, boomers
would be again slaves since they are mere machines in their eyes.
The boomers, as a collective whole, refuse to go back to slavery
and hate the youma even more than the myanarans do. When the
call came in the 2030's to fight against the rising youma forces,
the boomers gladly joined the fight, despite their differences
with the humans at that time. Should a boomer run across a youma
these days, they will do what they can to bring that youma down.
Unfortunately, should that boomer be a civilian rather than a
member of the local police, militia, or military, then the boomer
risks legal troubles for vigilante behavior.
