Would it be redundant to point out someone answering because it was a
language question and they are interested was the whole point of asking it?

Well... technically it was an "Is anybody interested?"-question, because as I
think I said, there is a whole list of names and places where I'm wondering
whether others would read/translate them as intended*, if there are better options,
or whether they are too groan-inducing...

*Especially the ones where I forgot to write down what they were
intended to mean.

It's kanji versus romaji that's the worry.
Different kanji are obviously different kanji, but things that are transcribed
the same are transcribed the same.
I don't hear the rest of FFML snickering, though, so I think that particular
worry has been reasonably dispelled.

"-gata" (潟 as in Niigata) is supposed to be "inlet, lagoon" or The Times Concise Atlas of The World
has been lying to me for over thirty years...
Now that you mention it, "-kata" may be the correct-ish-er spelling/pronouncaition after nuru.
The issue is further complicated by Swedish differentiating more between different
kinds of bays. (Lukewarm Bay is technically a translation of an actual place.)

Nothing wrong with the way you’re using nuru in those names. It’s the kanji that gives it different connotations. 温む is an adjective for lukewarm or tepid and doesn’t have any other meanings that I know of. I don’t know what you intended for gata to mean, though.

Thanks, but the key issue there is that there appears
to be another nuru with different connotations.
Then again, if there are no alternative words, there are no
alternative words, and nu (温) being used in place names
is encouraging.

It also only one from a long list of names that could need a
"this is what I, a reader, thinks this translates as".

I may have shoot myself in the foot regarding the city name
by spelling out the intended meaning.
For the record, the city's called Nurugata, located at Nurukawa.
