[FFML] Facing down the end

I think for part of me, the idea that the FFML is actually closing down is
still sinking in. Admittedly, I haven't been doing much to keep things
alive - neither posting my own fics nor commenting much on occasional other
posts that come through.
Still, fanfiction is where I got started as a writer: making the classic
newbie mistakes, learning not to keep making them, honing my skills and
learning to be more confident. I daresay that without the FFML, I'd never
have attempted National Novel Writing Month! (Three wins under my belt,
too. Nothing *published* yet, but ...)
I do have a fanfic project or two that I'd still like to bring to the list
before it shuts down; I doubt I'll finish it off, but I hope to at least
share a couple of chapters. I guess my big question is, where will things
go after July 1? Is fanfiction.net still worth posting to, or is Archive Of
Our Own better?
At any rate, the impending closure of the list is no reason to stop
writing, or to rest on our respective laurels (whatever those may be). So I
look forward to seeing what works surface in the next few months.
With virtual pen in hand,
