Wow.  I suppose it was inevitable, but I kinda hoped that the
timescale would be somewhat further away.

I've been a member of the list since, um, 1996, I think.  Not
*quite* half my life but close enough to it to make me stop
and blink at the thought.  Having it no longer be there in any
form is going to be... different.  Like having an old friend
die, in many ways.  I mean, I may not come to the FFML for C&C
any more, but I do still enjoy the company, even in its much
reduced state of late.  Not having the option... it's going to
be strange.

As some of you already know, I have my own forums.  We've got an
active and vital fanfiction community there -- and not just for
my fics.  We're tracking and uncovering new stuff all the time,
and I'm providing hosting for several shared-world projects.
Our demographics are pretty broad and while we skew a bit to the
older audience we sill have younger fans keeping us fresh.  FFML
members have always been welcome, and now, that's doubly true.

Dennis, thank you for all your effort on behalf of the community
all these years.  It's going to be missed.
