And for that reason, I've made sure at least two other people have
access to the SVN repository where I keep my work stored, with
explicit instructions to release all my unfinished material,
outlines and notes if anything happens to me.  In fact, the primary
person I chose for this job has already told me he intends to ask
other authors to finish my in-progress works if I pass away with
stuff unfinished.)

I highly recommend that anyone who's got a multichapter work (or
more) in progress use some variety of version control software to
archive it out in the cloud -- SVN, GIT, even freaking Microsoft
SourceSafe.  Between GitHub and the outfits that give free repos
with limits on them in the hopes that you'll pay for fewer limits,
there are *lots* of options for securely storing your writing in a
nonvolatile location.  (Not to mention the other benefits of using
version control software -- like recovering your stories after
catastrophic disk failures or boneheaded mistakes.)
