I'd encourage anybody who wants feedback on his or her stories to 
remember that this is a cooperative enterprise. The more feedback you 
give out to others, the more you'll get back. I'm not trying to shame 
anyone in particular here. It's just the way these things work.

Also, always reply to any honest feedback that you do receive. If I 
comment on an author's work two or three times and don't hear any 
response, I tend to figure that he probably isn't interested in what I 
have to say and that it would be a waste of both my time and his to give 
him any more feedback. (Please insert an "or her" to all male pronouns 
in the above.)
