Chapter Two



As I walked through the city I kept to the shadows. Wouldn't do to have 
anyone spot me. Not covered with blood like I was.

I had taken the precaution of using some old fabric I found to make a 
full-head mask. I was glad I had done so. It made identifying me less likely 
now.

Fortunately one of my pockets had had a hotel key in it that even had the 
address of the hotel. Unfortunately it was clear across town where the good 
section of town was. I was currently in the very bad part of town.

I moved carefully though the shadows hoping not to get noticed. It didn't 
turn out that way though. A voice interrupted me.

"Well well." it said "What do we have here? A girl slinking in the shadows, 
covered with blood, and pockets overflowing with no doubt stolen money."

I looked to the voice, and a figure emerged from the shadows. I did a double 
take when the light fell on him. I just stared.

"Aegis?!" I... remarked.

"You know." he said. "If that blood and money isn't yours, you're in a whole 
lot of trouble."

"I... I... I..." I stammered. "I didn't hurt anyone innocent! I took it from 
gang members who tried to kill me, I killed them and looted their bodies!"

Aegis glared at me and said "But you did kill them. And then took their 
money? I'm going to have to arrest you for that."

"It's not like they needed it anymore!" I shouted at him. "They weren't 
gonna spend it! They were dead!"

"Only because you made them that way!" he snarled. "You're obviously a 
phsyco. Now stay there while I put this nice containment foam on you."

I started to get angry. How dare he treat me this way over some gang members 
that I had killed. The gangs were running riot in this city and all the 
Protectorate and the Wards did was sit on their asses.

He was reaching for the foam grenades. Then I remembered his power. I 
smiled, rather nastily though, as I thought 'Looks like I'm going to have to 
get a little... messy.'

I quickly rushed forward using my reploid speed, which seemed to catch him 
by surprise. I went for the most lethal moves I knew, knowing that he would 
survive it. I didn't want to kill him since he wasn't a ganger and I don't 
kill heroes, neutrals, or the innocent.

I hit him, jabbed him, and punched him. Then I punched right into his chest 
and ripped his heart out. As he collapsed to the ground I just watched since 
I knew his power would keep him alive now.

"Here you can have this back now." I said snap his heart back in him. "Blood 
red really isn't my color. I was thinking of changing it to dark blue."

He snarled "I will hunt you down!"

I just shrugged. "You can try. You won't succeed though now."

"You will die!" he flits.

I looked at him and said "Hmph. The name's Thorne, Aegis. Remember it."

Aegis yelled "I will not forget this impudence, girl!"

A few hours later I finally stumbled into my hotel room. I heard a gasp and 
looked up. Before me was a vision of loveliness.

"Boss!" exclaimed Sunset. "What the fucking shit has happened to you now? 
You look like Hell warmed over badly."

I just smiled at the sight of Sunset Shimmer. She was really here as my 
companion. Then I passed out on the floor.
