[FFML] Continue dead or abandon fics by other authors

Ohh yes.  The first example that springs immediately to mind is Zen's "The Bitter End", which is still affecting a lot of fanfic portrayals of Akane and Ranma and Akane's relationship (for those who haven't read it: "The Bitter End" postulates that Akane suffers from a genuine mental/rage disorder, exacerbated by the canon events of the series, and, due to their pride, the social stigma around mental illness, and lack of awareness of treatment options, the Tendos have never admitted she has it and so she's never been given the medical/psychiatric treatment she needs, causing her to become an abusive spouse; the story is about how Ranma, post-series, works this out and breaks free, and the consequences thereof). Admission of bias: I'm a Ranma/Akane supporter, and most of the fan-fanfics skip the mental illness bit, making Akane into an abusive bitch without any cause for her behaviour.  I like "The Bitter End"; the ones that came after, not so much.
In Harry Potter fandom, there's the Draco In Leather Pants phenomenon, spawned by Cassandra Clare's "Draco Trilogy". The less said of that, the better, IMO.  I don't know the origin fic for 'Manipulative Dumbledore', which is another ubiquitious fanfic trope, but there were fics about him well before Book 7 and the canon Dumbledore's admission that he'd known all along about the Dursley's abuse and left Harry there anyway.  (Another reason why I hate Rowling's post-publication declaration of Dumbledore's homosexuality. Don't we have *enough* Evil Gays in literature already?)  Slytherin!Harry has been around as long as HP fics, as well.
I'm not sure which of about five authors was the one who introduced BDSM to Twilight fandom, but whichever one it was needs a kiss on the cheek and a good slap.  The kiss, because dear god the number of times I've wanted to turn Bella and/or Edward over my knee and give them a good spanking, and there are actually a lot of good BDSM fics in the fandom. The slap, because "Fifty Shades of Grey" started out as a Twilight BDSM fanfic (which I read as it was being written, and I'll be honest, compared to the other BDSM fics in the fandom at the time, I thought it was worth exactly what I paid for it).

I'll admit I only dabble in MLP:FiM, but I keep running into Nyx fics ("Past Sins" by Pen Stroke started this one up. Post the restoration of Princess Luna, a doomsday cult tries to resurrect Nightmare Moon, by gathering up the magical energy forced out of Luna when NM was defeated; because the primary magic involved in that was Twilight Sparkle's, when they succeed, the cult doesn't get the Queen of Forever Night but an alicorn filly with a lot more power over magic than the moon.  Twilight gets an instant promotion to motherhood; Luna and Celestia get freaked out; the Cutie Mark Crusaders get a fifth member; and Ponyville just goes 'eh'). So I think that'd count.
