     Funny, I always believed the River Tam fights were beautifully done 
sequences for another Takahashi character, Asuka Mizunokoji of Urusei 
Yatsura.  A beautiful and completely innocent young girl of 16 who was 
raised in absolute isolation from any male contact by her mother and a 
horde of female servants, guards and trainers.

     Her unfortunate introduction to boys was Ataru Moroboshi, so she 
doesn't think much of boys, with one exception... her brother, who came 
to her rescue when she was pursued by both Ataru and Shuutaro Mendou 
(who fell in love with her at first sight).  I've always thought she was 
Takahashi's version of Wonder Girl, with her typically sick and 
delightfully twisted Tomobikian reality.  The fact that she can rip a 
tank apart with her bare hands doesn't hurt either... unless she tries 
to give you an affectionate hug...

     When a friend of mine (who is the biggest Asuka fan I know of) went 
to see Serenity with me (my 2nd time), he almost choked on his drink 
when River Tam  dived thru the lock to face the horde of Reavers... and 
I yelled out "OTOKO!!!" ( "BOYS!!!")... Sorry Mike, but I had to do it!
