[FFML] Mercedes Lacky reverses stance on Fanfiction

Well, it was more her agent than her, but basically it was the
standard, reasonable motivation -- protect her rights to her own
work.  Just... a little more energetically -- some say
draconically -- than other authors might.  In particular she was
strongly influenced by an incident where a fan writer managed to
force Marion Zimmer Bradley to scuttle an entire Darkover book
by threatening a lawsuit over a similar idea to one she used in
her fic.

However, she and her agent now feel that a Creative Commons
license protects her rights sufficiently to allow unfettered
fan creativity.

Which, as my readers have just pointed out to me, means that I
now have to write the long-moribund "Drunkard's Walk I".  Argh.
