You know, I haven't seen this much overreacting, bitching, and 
aggressive misinterpretation of what someone has said since I quit 
reading alt.fan.furry

The vitriol and ganging up on someone who talked about an interesting 
concept for a fanfic, y'know, the thing that we're theoretically on this 
list to do, is absolutely reprehensible. He says that he thinks a fanfic 
concept of a fictional world involving fictional people is interesting, 
and suddenly people are accusing him of running a sex ring and 
threatening to report him to the FBI. Even in insult, those are 
completely over the top and mildly reprehensible.

The number of people running around on this mailing list playing thought 
police is appalling. I vaguely had some interest in reading the fic, 
until I heard it apparently had some heavy political overtones. Dunno, 
might still give it a glance-through later. What I do know is that the 
little commiseration spiral some people have got going here, reinforcing 
each other's belief that they're crusaders for womens' rights just 
because they're slinging insults at someone for remarking that the 
premise of PORN FICS holds promise, has me wondering if this list has 
any point anymore other than to give a select few self-righteous snots 
free reign to try and bully someone over the internet.

I mean, what exactly was this guy's crime, that he deserved to have more 
people than comment on any given fanfic series in total gripe him out? 
Did he write a bad fic? Did he call Rumiko Takahashi a bitch? Did he 
rape someone's dog? (Or white mooncat?) No, he commented on finding a 
setting for pornographic fanfic series interesting, prompting a couple 
of Moral Guardians to pin bathtowels to their shoulders, shoulder their 
own sense of self satisfaction, and go tilting at windmills with it.

If any of you have made more posts bitching at some guy's random comment 
than you have in any given month actually giving C&C on fics since 
you've been a member of this list, then you should be even more ashamed 
of yourselves than usual.
