Personally, I'm fine with it. The commentary was useful and entertaining even when it was negative, and I don't mind being on the receiving end of wit when it's cleverly delivered. Well, except for those genuinely trying to be mindlessly abusive, which I ignore. :)

Now that you mention it, that's probably where I picked up that tendency from. If anything, I'd be happy if my writing read more like an anime episode instead of a chapter in a book, since that's the source material I'm trying to emulate and the effect I was aiming for, though it looks like something I'll need to work on.
There were also a few private replies regarding my comments on SIs, which I'll not quote since the people who sent them could ostensibly have posted them to the list if they wanted their emails to be public. Miashara wasn't the only one who commented negatively on the fight scene in regard to how the SI was overpowered; a few people remarked the same. What strikes me, though, is that how people generally don't opine the same when it comes to the original cast in anime/manga series. Take Shinji, for example, who has a higher synch rate than both Rei and Asuka even though he lacks their years of training. Ranma, with his personal harem and practically owns everyone in fights. Various Gundam leads, who display this tendency as well. I'm sure there are numerous other examples. They're fictional characters as well, only with the intangible distinction that they're created by the show's writers, instead of by a fanfiction writer.
Probably the whole point of inserting a new character to any story is to see what new additions that character can introduce and (hopefully) make a better story. There will be no chance of that happening if a writer has to bland down that character to a bowl of oatmeal, so as to avoid offending the preconceptions of his audience at large.
As the anime/manga fandom apparently has no objection to the myriad assortment of "overpowered" canon characters that litter the scene, I can only assume it's because the canon characters are seen as a whole for what their are, flaws and personal quirks and all, instead of only their talent in one particular field. All I ask is for the same treatment for ACCs. Do take a while to assess them in overall, instead of damning the story right from the onset, just because the ACC fights well.
Thank you.
