[FFML] [News][Potter] Rowling Speaks on Dumbledore

Frankly, and I'm sorry if this offends anyone on the list, but I'm sick and
god damn tired of Rowling's introducing random sh** in her interviews that
make no freaking sense at all.
Examples
Let's start off with a biggy....the number for the population of Magical
Briton. She set it at 3000 in an interview. Total nonsense.
Then she said that Hogwart's population of students was 1000... WAIT!?
WHAT?! Fully 1/3 of the entire population of magical UK (who normally live
to be upwards of 90+ years of age) is in a 7 year gap in age? That's
ridiculous.
Then on top of that you have the world cup stadium seating 100,000, with 500
witches and wizards from the ministry serving as security? So out of 3000
people, you have 1000 in school and 500 at least working for the ministry.
That's 50% of your entire population right there.
Then this whole random Snape loving lily thing and turning him into a hero
in the end. Yeah, some yahoo that picks on and humiliates 11 year olds is a
real effing hero. It's pretty obvious what happened. People are confusing
Snape with Alan Rickman and pushing her to make him more palatable. Certain
people just can't stand the idea that there ARE people that are distasteful,
vindictive, and mean, and that they aren't secretly heros that are just
waiting for a chance to show how misunderstood they are. It's pure bollocks
what she did with Snape.
Don't even get me started on her retconning events in the series in relation
to Draco and other characters.
In a nutshell...Rowlings says things that simply havn't been thought out in
interviews, and as such she needs to have her mouth boarded shut until she
can spend time thinking before she opens her pie hole.
Now this whole Dumbledore is gay garbage.
Riiiiight. No hints of it before now... and it's just coincidence that she
whips this out at a major liberal arts school to a sympathetic audience
where she was guaranteed a positive reception.
I somehow doubt she'd have made the same announcement if it was having to be
done in front of a bunch of parents or children. This was Moral cowardice
and pure showboating in the extreme if you ask me. If she'd done this at a
Scholastic event, parents would have likely taken her to task and made her
less than welcome, there might even have been booing that followed.
The fact is... Rowlings caved in to pressure form a vocal minority of
readers that have been whining and pushing for certain things for a while
now, including a gay character in the series, Snape's redemption, and a more
fangirl friendly Draco. That she choose to do all this now smacks of caving,
and that she's doing it purely to pander. Nothing more or less.
This is cheap theatrics at it's worst.

Attention Potter-fic writers, especially those who write about Dumbledore.
Have you heard what JK Rowling said about him during a Q&A session during an
appearance at Carnegie Hall on Friday?
http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/books/10/20/harry.potter.ap/index.html
She is also reported to have concluded the above bit of news in this way:
'"Oh, my god," Rowling concluded with a laugh, "the fan fiction."'
