Okay, based on my knowledge of Melancholy of Suzumiya
Haruhi, the premise completely does not work within
the complete body of MoSH canon.  This fic appears to
be working off the Lone Goddess theory, which has been
disproved in later canon.

(Because the anime follows the novels very closely,
and nothing in either conflicts at all with anything
in the other, most fans consider that we have one
canon in two formats, so you can't just say 'anime
canon' for Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.  It's all
one canon, and considering how the series is
structured, later canon is incredibly important for
early events.)

But anyway, my point is, killing Haruhi will not solve
Kang's problem.  Lone Goddess [Haruhi is a god and
everything is All Her Fault] has been disproved, and
Two Gods [Haruhi and Kyon are both gods, and Kyon is
just better at keeping his head down] is almost
completely shot down too.  The scenario could work for
Lock and Key [Haruhi's powers are dependent on Kyon's
presence and tacit permission] but is dependent on
Haruhi being the only suitable Lock around for Kyon's
Key (possible... but not likely).  But if MoSH goes
with Man Behind The Curtain [Kyon is the god and
Haruhi is his avatar] (as seems increasingly likely
with the way the novels are going), not only will that
negate Kang's effort, he will have killed a god's
(potential) avatar, and that god will not be happy.
