Hi, Ben (if you're reading comments). Long time no see. It must have
been in 1998 - I was still in high school when I was either
prereading/C&Cing this fic.

I was thinking less of the insults, and more of the philosophy behind his
actions. Close enough, though.

Hundreds of eyes followed the crystals' trails,

Hundreds? That's it? Tiny army to conquer the entire earth.
Thousands
sounds better. Hundreds of thousands.

Yeah, I figured Emerald vs thousands would've stretched the belief
of readers, even with super-mode Droids. In justification, the
youma in this story were always written as dangerously over-confident,
and the youma have been shown in canon to take down non-magical humans
easily by draining them, so hundreds would be enough for a
spearhead invasion force, if nothing else.

Even if it's a spearhead force, that still seems weird. Assume that
they're going to just attack Japan first instead of using
teleport+surprise advantages. Let's also assume "hundreds" means 500.
According to Britannica, Japan alone is 145898 miles. Let's also assume
"hundreds" means 500. That's about 1 youma per 300 square miles.

Okay, granted that an invading force probably wouldn't need to actually
control ALL the territory, just the major centers of population and/or
transport routes. That still seems miniscule.

Why not say "thousands" and give Emerald a hundred droids? It'd take
longer to kill off "thousands" of youma, true, but that's not his primary
goal anyway. Keeping the Senshi alive is, and he could just tell the
droids to keep fighting.

Yes, I thought long and hard about how to kill Emerald. I decided that
a physical death wouldn't work - he's been attacking the Senshi for centuries
(and these Senshi are way over-powered, according to his descriptions),
so it wouldn't be realistic that he'd be damaged enough in the past.

Fair enough. Although I think it would be amusing to have him walk
through magical thermonukes unscathed and die of a stubbed toe, but
probably not the ending you were going for.

In general, I like it. Probably won't have time to do a line-by-line
for months, but hopefully these quick remarks will be useful.

Well, thanks for the comments.

My pleasure.

Out of curiosity, was this close to the chapter you'd written on the
corrupted disk, or substantially revised?

The sardines weren't worth the trouble. A few more shots, then
Ryoga-san would overheat and explode. Ducking around a corner,
I managed to lose him as I entered the ramshackle residence of
my Anime supplier.

One look at his face and I knew that I had been betrayed. "Tell me,"
I insisted. He refused, so I slammed him against the wall.
"Last chance. Where can Ranma-Ranma find good fanfics?"
"Try Jason Liao," he whispered, before he slumped to the floor.
I heard the sounds of a door splintering as I left through the
window, one step ahead of Tendo Heavy Industries...
