Sorry about the sabbatical. I'll probably just have to do this thing
after a set number of synopses have been submitted. ^_^
Still feeling sleepy with all the cold weather we're having, but I had
some visitors and I'm running on the high I got from that.

Anyway, here's the compiled review for the past few weeks. Sorry, no essay
at the end; I'm going back to sleep right after this.

Natsume, leaves her mark and is assigned to the Crazy Alices group.

Series: Alice Academy / Gakuen Alice
Title: A Clockwork Tangerine
Chapter: Five, "Guard Dog"
Author: Henry J. Cobb
Web site: http://www.io.com/~hcobb/anime/fanfic/clockwork.html
Genre: Dark
Status: All plotted out. Three more chapters of death, torture and
mayhem to go, unless I need to split another chapter.

Synopsis:

Mikan confirms the rumors, gets grounded and ungrounded, and starts
pushing the teachers around. Meanwhile Natsume mostly just lies around
lets Mikan slobber all over him.

Compiled review:

Actually well-written. Problem is, even knowing that it's a parody,
I don't "get" it.

Really I don't. I think it's primarily because the premise is so
against what I've seen of the source material. Not your fault, but
my mind just can't parse the concept you're throwing around.

Maybe it will work for other people.

Anyway, your prose has gotten better: a finer eye for detail would
be better and the "voice" of Natsume could do some more fleshing out.
A few typos here and there, by the way, even in the final copies on
the website - which I read for this review.

I can't exactly recommned it, but I'd advise people to try it and see
if it floats their boat.

Chapter: Three
Author: Brian Randall
Web site: www.florestica.com/brandall/
Genre: Whatever Haruhi feels like -- Sci-fi to start out, with
romantic leanings.
Status: In Progress

Synopsis:
Now that Kyon's settled into Haruhi's strange new world, it's time to
figure out how to destroy it. But there's still time to settle a few
romantic issues, right?

Compiled Review:

A very good fic for this new series. Mr. Randall writes Kyon very well,
though it lacks a bit of the bite of the original - an understandable
change as per what happened in the fic.

It manages to retain some of the flavor of the original and that's a
good thing - plus it's very well written. Mr. Randall's Nagato-fanboy
shows way too much in the work. ^_-

Consider this stamped with my approval. ^_^

Series: Naruto
Title: "Suiren"
Chapter: 21 "Blood" (Chapter number subject to change)
Author: Eimii
Web site: www.fanfiction.net/~eimii
Genre: [Action][Adventure][Comedy]
Status: [Chapter 21 status: Draft][Chapter 1-20 status: revision in
progress]

Synopsis:
The War of the Leaf, the Sand and the Sound has ended, and Konoha
stands whole but badly weakened. Just when Haruno Sakura thought that it was

finally safe to let her guard down and lick her wounds, a confusing new
assignment lands in her lap. Despite being barely a secret at all, the
'mysteries' surrounding the Haruno family's arrival in Konoha were
apparently a little too bothersome for the Village Council to bother
unraveling, as they still seem a bit confused about what color Sakura's
blood is...

Review:

There are probably two Naruto fics that I can depend on for consistency
in quality - this one and 'Hundred Days'. These two are simply the best I've
read of this particular fandom.

I really can't say anything bad about this chapter - no typos, no nothing.

Just pure enjoyment.

Highly recommended.

Series: Guilty Gear
Title: At Freedom's Expense
Chapter: 3: Past the Point of Reality
Author: Christian Clark (Warhammer)
Web site: http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=twh
Genre:
Drama, Adventure
Status: Work-in-progress

Synopsis:
In the past and the future, Dizzy finds living in secret is more
exhausting than she thought, and Ky is lead about by his own desire to
learn the truth.

Chapter: 4: Distant Lands
Author: Christan Clark (Warhammer)
Web site:
Genre: drama
Status: Work-in progress

Synopsis:
An incident on a routine investigation leads our heroes to go below
and beyond the role of duty to discover the truth about the source of
the mysterious Post-War Administration Buerau.

Compiled review:

A fine little fic. Christian Clark shows his chops once again as an
experienced fanfic writer with clear prose and a fine eye for detail.

It's a good read even for those Guilt Gear-impaired so I advise taking
a gander and see if you like it.

Series: Ranma - XCOM
Title: The Road to Cydonia
Chapter: 7
Author: Capn Chryssalid
Web site: http://www.wagnergrp.com/JBW_Website/
Genre: Crossover/Action/Sci-Fi/War
Status: in progress

Synopsis:
The year is 2005. For six years, mankind has waged a Secret War
against an enemy from Beyond the Stars. The Nerima Wrecking Crew and
their families have been relocated to Seiran Mountain, XCOM
headquarters for the Far East. Finally, a mission is sent down for the
newly militarized Nerima Wrecking Crew, to cut their teeth against the
Alien Menace...

Review:

Okay, decent enough fic. Prose is good - good meaty descriptions of fight;
though the eye for detail seems to be a bit too focused in the emotional
parts - I'd prefer a bit of distance, since intensity can easily become
emo-whining/angsting under the lens.

Anyway, it's not exactly my cup of tea, but I'd happily recommend it to
someone looking for a Ranma war fic.

Chikane and Himeko. As they struggle with the aftermath, the mounting
pressures from Chikane's parents, an impending concert, and meddlesome
suitors threaten to be more than their weakened relationship can
handle.

Compiled review:

Beautiful little drama in three parts - well-plotted and well-written.
Lime content was just right, too. ^_^

I really can't add anything more - prose was good all throughout and you
maintained the tone of the fic all throughout.

A little gem for any fans of the series. Recommended.

Series: Meitantei Conan
Title: Typhoon
Chapter: 3
Author: Eternal Lost Lurker
Web site: www.lurkerdrome.com
Genre: Drama

Synopsis: The friends and family of Ran and Shinichi continue to react
to the unexpected news of Ran's pregnancy.

Review:

Another good chapter - though as always a bit short. But I've gotten used
to Lurker's output so no biggy. And nice closer. ^_-

A good chapter and I'll be waiting for more.

-----

Series: Meitantei Conan/Green Lantern
Title: Midori no Hikari
Chapter: 1
Author: ELL
Web site: www.lurkerdrome.com
Genre: Crossover

Synopsis: Edogawa Conan becomes a Green Lantern.

Review:

Spamfic - nice enough for it's sort. Nothing much more to say.

-----

Series: Sailor Moon Cross Over
Title: The Amazing Spiderwoman
Chapter: 13
Author: J.D. McKenna
Web site: http://www.fanfiction.net/~pandorascloset
Genre:
Action/Adventure
Status: In progress

Synopsis: Ami Mizuno's life sucked.
Sure, she was the smartest person in school, and her Aunt encouraged
her to follow her dreams, but still . . . life sucked.

But then one day, Flash Kino, the school bully, shoved Ami into a
case of artifacts and suddenly, everything changed.

She was given great power, and learned, to her sorrow,
great responsibility. But what she didn't know was that she was born
for a specific purpose, a destiny whose roots date back
to the beginnings of human civilization . . . and beyond.

It is a destiny that will lead to a ressurection of a dead empire,
a confrontation with pure evil, and ultimately, a cosmic force
beyond description.

Ami Mizuno's life sucked . . . and its about to get worse.

Review:

Way back when I started reading this I thought it was going to suck.

Well, I was proven wrong. It's actually a very nice little fusion with
a ton of crazy thrown in. Pretty fun in a way, though it's not exactly
up there with "Avenging", it's pretty high in my estimation.

Nothing much to complain about - mostly since the grammar is fine and
the plotting is well done.

Recommended, if this is your sort of thing.

-----

Series: Sailor Moon
Title: Nuke 'Em Till They Glow!! Terra in Tokyo
Chapter: 11
Author: Benjamin A. Oliver
Web site: http://boliver.florestica.com/tint/index.htm
Genre:
Humor/Dark/Silly
Status: Edited Draft/Complete

Synopsis: In this alternate storyline for "Nuke 'Em 'Till They
Glow!!", the Sailor Soldiers, Tuxedo Kamen, and the Star Light
Knight go looking for the Rainbow Crystals, but the Negamafoozles
are one step ahead of them.

While those in the main group are fighting for their lives and
the sake of the future, Terra Incognita is off shopping and being
depressed with Sailor Jupiter.

Review:

Still doing the crazy, Ben Oliver is an institution. Or _should_
be in an institution. ^_^

Another fine chapter of fun. I've loved Nuke 'Em since way back
when I was forced to read them. You really have to start at the
beginning though to sample the full flavor of Mr. Oliver's humor.
^_-

Highly recommended.

-----

Series: Naruto
Title: One Hundred Days
Chapter: 12
Author: Aaron Nowack
Web site: http://www.mimiru.net/
Genre: Action/Adventure
Status: Waiting for C&C.

Synopsis: Naruto leaves on his three year training trip, and Sakura
begins the struggle to improve herself. How much will they have changed
when they meet again in one hundred days?

In Chapter Twelve: Treachery and Deceit, Jiraiya and Naruto begin to
realize that they're in much more danger than they had thought in the
Lightning Country. But possibly less than they'd be at home, because
the Mist and Sound are finally ready to make their move...

Review:

If you have not read this, my elite team of ninjas will hunt you down
and kill you. ^_^

Still a fine, fine piece of work; a lot of foreshadowing is paying off
and there's still a few more mysteries before the hundred days is over.

Anyway, Aaron cleans his stuff up before he posts so no need for nitpicking.

Highly recommended.

-----

Series: Tenchi Muyo OAVs (this episode crosses over with Excel
Saga and Kiddy Grade)
Title: Sketches of Tenchi 13: Tenchi's Excellent Adventure
Chapter: 13
Author: hkmiller
Web site: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Dojo/5058
Genre: Comedy, SF, Fusion/cross-over
Status: FFML draft

Synopsis:

An ancient horror is resurrected and threatens the sanity
of the entire galaxy.

Review:

Bert Miller's Sketches of Tenchi is some old-fashioned fun and I've been
reading the older parts every once in a while. This chapter is no
exception.

I really liked the opening - plus the Excel joke was fun. And the Vinge
stuff
was great - you somhow made something that serious work in a comedy. ^_^

It's a bit bare-bones I have to admit and you'll probably have to have some
background to totally "get" it. But it's a nice little creampuff to digest.

Recommended
