Dig through the archives, I'm sure you'll find a spamfic from the last time this happened. Hint: "Pluto trans-Neptunian object power, make up!"

However, if you're asking if this could have any application to serious fiction? Since the Senshi come from the places that had princesses at the time of the Moon Kingdom, science redefining "planet" is not going to retroactively change the past. You _might_ be able to work in a sly reference where CereCere/Sailor Ceres is lording it over her fellow Amazoness Quartet/Asteroid Senshi members.

And of course, you could pair Sailor Pluto up with Tuxedo Charon or whatever, but Charon has been more than a moon less than a planet for quite a while anyway, and having it suddenly be called a planet is, again, no reason to retcon the past. Pluto and Charon have always been dancing around each other at the cold edges of the solar system.

I don't think we're going to automagically see any new canon material featuring the "new planets", aside from maybe Charon and Ceres, because the "new planets" are just going to have arbitrarily assigned names with little in the way of mythological connections or impact. Some of them haven't even gone beyond numbers yet.

I heartily endorse any potential springboarding of Chibi-Usa/Asteroid Senshi stories that the sudden elevation of Ceres to planet status brings to mind - however, Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, and Juno have always been with us.

So I was browsing the BBC, and, being a science nut, I noticed a small
article in today's news. To all the Sailormoon fans, does the story
behind the link here spark any spamfic ideas ?
