A girl with auburn hair in pigtails stood in the doorway of the faculty
room looking slightly lost, but she was smiling. She was always very good
at smiling.
"Come in Mikan, have a seat," A man with long wavy blond hair smiled and
pointed to a chair that was next to the desk he was sitting at.
"But I've already got a chair for my room."
"Mikan, just walk over here and sit down in this chair right here please."
"Ok, Mr. Narumi."
"Now Mikan, I'm afraid I've made a bit of a mistake about your Alice."
"I don't know any girl named Alice."
"No, your special ability. I'm afraid that you don't actually have one."
"I don't?"
"No, you see when I wasn't able to control your mind and you didn't react
when Natsume burned you, it wasn't because of the Nullification Alice.
It's just... Well, you're a little slow."
"Oh no, Mr. Narumi. I can run very fast."
"No, not in that way. You see, you have special needs."
"So I am special?"
"In your own way, sure. The point is that as you don't actually have an
Alice, we're going to have to send you home."
"I get to go home and see grandpa? That is special."
"Now it's time for you to say goodbye to everybody and go back to your room
and pack up all your things, ok?"
"Ok... I'm going to be gone for a while?"
"Yes, a very long while. When you're done, I'll have somebody drive you
home."
"I can take the train. I came here myself on the train."
"Yes, you did. And we still don't know how you managed that."
