Well... generally, when it's really hot out, you don't hug yourself,

it feels gross and sticky? And, I was kinda hoping that it was pretty
obvious from the happenings of the immediate preceeding scene, why Himeko
was feeling upset... was that not clear?
If something is already clear then clearly you don't need to waste the
reader's time by telling them that point again, no? What's the point of
repeating it over and over again? Won't they get it the first time you
say it?
Maybe this is a good discussion topic for the list in general... how much
description is really necessary? At what point do you stop providing
readers
with clues for interpretation, and start to force-feed them?
I'm really torn on this myself.
Our sources are very visual. All I have to say is "Ranma was wearing her
red outfit", and a majority of the members on this list will be able to
tell you how many buttons her top has, what those buttons look like, what
kind of shoes she's wearing and how she feels about being a girl at the
moment.
For more obscure Anime that haven't been released in Region One yet the
question is more open. Am I writing for obsessive fans or the general
public?
I think the best way to handle this is to work character descriptions into
beats. The fans won't be bothered by character descriptions they already
know by heart if it doesn't interupt the story and the rest of the readers
will get the character details just as they need them.
