Wouldn't work.  Wizards spawn Squibs so the division between the 
magically endowed and the magically unendowed would always exist
even if 
everyone had wizard blood.  Of course they might end up in the

keeping them from being a credible threat.

Squibs were not yet known, or rather not understood to be such, at
the time Gryffindor lived.  Nor was he up on genetics (but nor was
Slytherin.)

Secrets, and use that which lay within to purge Hogwarts of all

were unworthy to be there.

Could be.  After all, it's a Slytherin talking, and naturally he's
going to put events in the best light he can.  But some of it may
also be true.

the Muggleborns.  Finally, he actually killed a girl, though it
might have been an accident.  His plan backfired, though.  

Gosh.  How could a plan like that go wrong?  It was carefully
worked out!

Any plan that relies on other people acting "sensibly" is bound to
have hitches.
