The hat here seems to be almost sorting partially based on family here, 
and I would say
that the Dursley's in general fit into the Slytherin mold.  Given that 
Martin managed to
make it into Gryffindor, certainly Duncan can take a shot at Slytherin.  
This is partially a
long term assessment as well and as Duncan grows a bit more confident he 
could grow
into the Slytherin mantle.

Actually, thinking about it a little more, I can actually see this.  
Given the others (that
aren't explicitly leaning slightly towards the dark) sorted into 
Slytherin, I think it is mainly
those that feel they have something to prove now--those who don't have a 
negative bias
against Slytherin anyway.  (The hat does seem to take the wearers 
desires into account
if he's aware of them after all.)  Duncan has gone most of his life 
being trodden upon and
probably feels, down beneath the mental baggage, that he needs to prove 
himself to his
father or more so himself.

Anyway, looking forward to more of this, its been an interesting read so 
far.

Odd. I would have given that as the *least* likely of the houses to be
suited to him (with Gryffindor in second place); from what little we've
seen of his personality so far he seems like a shoo-in for the
stereotypically timid Hufflepuff (even though that's probably an
inaccurate stereotype), and I thought I'd seen a couple of hints of an
underlying intelligence which might have qualified him for Ravenclaw -
which would have been the most appropriate by virtue of being so
dreadfully *in*appropriate for the stereotype of the Dursley.

Admittedly the presence of Draco in a positive role indicated that the
fic was probably moving in this direction, but I had hoped for something
not quite so implausible (and, arguably, cliche'd - I've seen "a few,
too many" fics make the protagonist Slytherin with the obvious intent of
showing that They're Not So Bad After All... which of course they
aren't, but that's not a good enough reason by itself). Still, it's
possible that you have enough up your sleeve at which you haven't yet
hinted to be able to justify it later on; we shall see.
