Spoiler Warning: This chapter occurs right before the third stage of the
Chuunin Exam; in fact...

Continuity Warning: ...this chapter occurs right after the last one. Yaaay!

Non-Yaoi Warning: Only one male in this chapter again, so i'm pretty sure
there's no Yaoi here...

Naked Sakura Warning: ...^_^;. Well, when last we checked, she was taking a
shower, so...

It took a lot less time to revise this chapter than i was anticipating; i
actually thought it was a lot longer than this ^_^;. I'm considering
combining it with the previous chapter now, since they happen one right
after the other without any significant time gap.

As usual, please let me know what you think! There may be another short
break between now and the release of the next revised chapter, so i can work
some more on the new chapter, but looking at these old ones seems to make it
easier to work through my frequent writer's block on the new one -_-;.
Anyhow, please enjoy the show!

LIGHT...

"...Did you know that 18% of all assassination attempts happen in or around
the target's own bathroom?"

Stopping cold at the sound of that bright and cheery, but horribly familiar
voice, Sakura slowly lowered the towel that she was using to dry her hair.
Unfortunately, her eyes only confirmed what her ears had already told her.
Sitting casually on the edge of her bed, grinning like the cat that
swallowed the canary, was none other than Mitarashi Anko.

"...I was aware of that fact, yes," Sakura replied wearily, favoring the
special jounin with a flat look as she went back to gently wicking the
moisture from her forelocks. She'd been anticipating something like this for
a while, and she'd known there'd be no escape when Anko came for her again;
she just wondered what had taken the woman so long. "It's the best place to
catch someone with their pants down," she finished dryly, her sarcastic tone
drawing attention to her own nudity. The corner of her mouth turned up as
Anko's face drooped into a frown.

"You already heard that one, huh?" the brunette mused in disappointment.

"That joke's older than Hokage Mountain," Sakura deadpanned.

Discouraged for barely a heartbeat, the grin returned with reinforcements.
"So do you always wander around your house naked?" Anko needled
suggestively.

Sakura grimaced, but she couldn't really deny it. Her mother grew up on a
farm and didn't brook a lot of 'silly' body modesty- like Sakura's frivolous
desire for a bathrobe, for instance -but the way the examiner was leering at
her made Sakura want to argue. "It's _my_ house," she pointed out curtly,
tying the short bath towel around her waist and crossing her arms. "So were
you here for something, or did you just sneak into my bedroom to ambush me
with stale toilet humor?"

Anko quirked an eyebrow. "My, aren't _we_ in a hurry to be arrested for
treason?"

"Treason?" Sakura blinked. "That's stupid! If I were a spy, why would I hang
around and _wait_ for you to come and get me?! I would've of skipped town
the first chance I got!" the green-eyed girl snapped testily. After spending
the entire night _being_ Anko, and having Orochimaru capture and ravish her
in her dreams, the examiner didn't scare her one bit.

Anko, however, was unfazed by her logic. "It does seem kinda stupid," she
admitted, "but maybe you figured that whatever you did to me would cover
your tracks for a bit longer. That was pretty impressive, by the way; if
Yuuhi hadn't gotten fed up and asked me about-"

Stopping, the older woman peered at her oddly before continuing in a notably
more venomous tone. "Well, anyhow, you were a bit sloppy- and if you aren't
a spy, then explain to me why you were panting like a bitch in heat and
moaning for 'Orochimaru-sama,' just now."

"I- I said that?!" Sakura squeaked, going deathly pale.

Anko nodded gravely. "You _screamed_ it; I could hear you down on the
street," the jounin confirmed.

*NOOOOO! Oh gods, what if mom heard me?!* The Haruno matriarch was _always_
awake before the crack of dawn, and lately she'd been keeping a sharp eye on
Sakura to make sure that her daughter wasn't working herself to hard.

*Wait- mom's not from Konoha. Maybe she hasn't heard of Orochimaru.* But
even if that was the case, her mom would want to know who he was; what was
she supposed to say then? "DAMMIT! This is all _your_ fault!" the pink-
haired kunoichi cried, shaking a white-knuckled fist at the woman sitting
smugly on her bed.

Anko's expression soured instantly. "What the hell is that supposed to
mean?" she demanded with a scowl.

"They're _your_-"

"Sakura-chan?" came her mother's voice from downstairs, and they heard the
sound of a door swinging shut. "Are you awake yet?"

"Yes, mom!" Sakura shot her 'guest' a silencing glare.

"Okay. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes. I just had to go out and
get some eggs," her mother called back, adding with a bit of annoyance, "And
you _will_ be eating breakfast today, young lady! No 'but's!"

"Yes, mom! I'll be down in a little bit!" Sakura replied. Breathing an
exhausted sigh of relief, she returned her attention to the problem at hand.

For her part, Anko seemed rather amused at the teenager's antics, despite
her flare of indignation a few seconds before. "You were saying?" the
smirking brunette prompted.

Regaining her composure, Sakura hissed quietly, "It's _your_ fault because
they're _your_ dreams!"

Now it was Anko's turn to look aghast, but it was only a moment before her
features transformed into the stony mask of a trained interrogator.
"Explain," she demanded, not quite able to keep the anger from her voice, at
least to Sakura's ears.

"I used a possession jutsu on you," Sakura began, pausing for a moment to
gather her courage. "...but, well, I did it wrong- or, it didn't work the
way I thought it would, but it _did_ let me control you." Anko stiffened,
and Sakura could see that the other woman was starting to put the pieces
together, even if she was leaving out a few pertinent details.

"So I made you leave with Kurenai-sensei, after telling the guard to let me
go," the pink-haired girl continued hastily. "But when I came to the
restaurant to... er, release my control on you, something weird happened,
and for the last few nights I've been having _your_ dreams, or something
like them. They're certainly not _my_ dreams."

Anko still looked deeply skeptical. "Prove it," she demanded, scrutinizing
the young genin critically. "Describe one of these 'dreams.'" Crossing her
knees, Anko folded her arms over her chest and glared at the shorter girl
expectantly.

"Weeeell..." Now was the time for delicacy, Sakura decided. As a torture and
interrogation specialist, the examiner probably had a 'different' take on
this sort of invasion of privacy, and Sakura had no idea how she might
react.
Moving deliberately, Sakura leaned against the near wall and tucked her
hands behind her. "...Um, well, in this recent dream, I- you ended up
meeting Iruka-sensei, and having dinner with him." She watched Anko's face
for any sort of reaction, but was denied.

*Dammit, time for something a little riskier then.* "You... er, you were
really happy to be eating with him, since you've liked him for years, but
didn't know if he would like you-" Ah! There, she was blushing! It was
faint, but definitely noticeable on Anko's light skin.

Lowering her head a bit, Sakura turned to the side, looking the part of the
embarrassed innocent. "Afterward, you invited him home for a drink but..."
Uh oh- She didn't want to poke at Anko's shame too much, but a little detail
was probably necessary for believability. "-but you had to clean your
apartment first, so you wouldn't scare him."

Anko's eyes flickered down for a moment, but that was all; time to go for
the jugular, then. "When you went to let him in, it wasn't Iruka, at the
door- it was Orochimaru." Sakura's breath caught at the memory, but she
didn't miss Anko's small, echoing gasp; almost there! "He forced his way in
and pinned you to the ground, and then he started-"

"I've heard enough."

A faint, almost imperceptible waver in Anko's voice caught Sakura's
attention, and she turned again to face her inquisitor. *Oh crap!*

There was no doubt about it now: Anko was furious. Her cheeks were mottled
with a flush of rage, while an engorged vein on her forehead throbbed in
time to one madly twitching eyebrow. Despite that, however, the brunette was
also studiously avoiding Sakura's gaze, her eyes downcast as if she were
ashamed of herself.

*...#&%$(, I'm a moron! Of course she's ashamed! I'd be ashamed too, if
someone reached into _my_ head and dragged _that_ out for the world to see!*
Panicking, Sakura raised her arms, hands open in a classical non-threatening
posture. "Look, I'm sorry! I didn't mean for it to happen, really! I just
wanted to-"

Caught completely by surprise, Sakura could do nothing but freeze in shock
as a terrific, bestial growling sound filled the room. Dropping her gaze in
slow increments, trying not to make any sudden moves, Sakura's wide emerald
eyes finally fell upon Anko's stomach, and the stunned girl had an epiphany.
"... Would you like something to eat?" she suggested, hopefully.

"Hey, what are you doing?! I'm going to eat that!" Making a desperate lunge,
the smaller kunoichi was nonetheless unable to rescue the delectable fried
morsel before it disappeared into Anko's mouth. Frowning, she jabbed an
accusatory chopstick at the happily chewing jounin. "That was _my_ fish!"

"Sakura, there's no need to shout," Sakura's mother chided gently from her
position in front of the stove, although the wry look she was shooting the
both of them belied her serene tone. "I'm cooking more, just be patient for
a few minutes. Would you like some more as well, Mitarashi-san?"

With a clearly audible swallow, almost as if to spite the fuming girl next
to her, Anko grinned and nodded enthusiastically. "Please!"

"Grrrr... you're such a _pig_, I can't believe it! Five helpings?!" Stomping
indelicately back into her room, Sakura leaned down to pick up her toppled
chair, spinning it around to face the bed as Anko strolled in behind her.

Plopping down unceremoniously, Sakura crossed her arms and shot the jounin a
disgusted look. "Haven't you ever been a guest in someone's home before?"
she demanded, motioning for Anko to close the door before reclaiming her
seat on the bed.

"She kept askin' me if I wanted more. What, was I supposed to lie?" the
taller woman snipped back, though her tone was mellowed considerably by an
aura of well-fed contentment. "I don't see why you're makin' such a big deal
of it; your mom's nice. It kinda makes me wonder how she could'a spawned a
freak like _you_."

Anko's eyebrow quivered spasmodically as Sakura directed an especially rude
gesture her way. "Jeez, kid, I hope you wash those hands before you touch
yourself..."

*Huh?* Sakura stared in confusion at the offending digits. *Wait, did I
just...?* Bristling like an angry pink cat, Sakura planted her palms firmly
on her thighs, griping her knees hard enough to leave finger marks. "I- you-
? Gah... It's you! _You're_ driving me insane!" she concluded once more,
glaring daggers at the brunette.

"Hah, right!" Anko barked mockingly. "You still ain't told me how the hell
_that_ works, and from what your friend said, you were nuts already! But
here's one thing I _do_ know: it's _your_ fault that I'm hungry!"

"What?!"

"If you hadn't tried to escape, Yuuhi would never have found me!" the
examiner explained, a bit of heat rising to her cheeks.

At this, Sakura sneered disdainfully. "You can't be serious! Did you expect
me to- to..." A sinking feeling suddenly filled the pit of Sakura's stomach.
Eyes widening, the young escapee couldn't help but gape in disbelief.
"You... you didn't drag me down there just so you could hide from Yuuhi and
get out of that bet, did you?!"

"Of course not!" Anko countered quickly. Then her lips stretched into a
huge, toothy grin. "It was just a happy coincidence that you were makin'
such a nuisance of yourself that morning."

"Nuisance!?" the pink-haired girl sputtered. "I bumped into you! You're the
one that started screaming for blood and making a ruckus!"

"You knocked me into the mud and ruined my breakfast!"

"You were eating dango for breakfast?! And why didn't you dodge or
something? Aren't you some sort of 'special' jounin, or is it _that_ kind of
'special?'" Sakura sang the word in a condescending nasal tone, exulting as
she successfully wiped the infuriating grin off of Anko's face. The brunette
paused after opening her mouth to retort, trembling in mute fury. *Hah, damn
straight! Choke on that, bitch!*

Smelling blood, Sakura leaned forward and favored Anko with snidely pitying
smile. "What's wrong, can't the big, bad Second Stage Examiner tell when
some 'stupid punk kid' is sneaking up on her? Or maybe you were distracted?
Were you thinking of someone? Maybe I- ru- ka-"

Springing like a coiled viper, Anko was on top of her before she could
finish the breath. Ankles locked around the feet of the chair, Anko
straddled her thighs and bent forward so their noses were almost touching.
The hungry, animalistic gleam in the woman's eyes instantly doused Sakura's
surly mood like a bucket of ice water. *Oh )(&$!* Flailing wildly, she tried
to push the jounin away. "No! Anko, waiAAAAAH?!"

Stretching Sakura's cheeks a bit wider, Anko peered drolly into her tear-
filled green eyes, completely in control once more. "...what was that straw-
brained scarecrow thinking, running off to train the Uchiha kid and leaving
a troublemaker like you behind to cause me grief?"

Twisting the pinched folds of skin in her fingers as her victim squirmed,
the jounin blew out a put-upon sigh. "Couldn't he have dropped you off with
the Inuzukas or somethin'? At least then, when he came back, you'd probably
be housebroken- hmm, what's that?"

Glancing up, Anko watched as Sakura held her hands above her head and reeled
off a string of words in Konoha ninja sign language. "Let. go. or. will.
possess. again- Gah!" Releasing Sakura's face, the taller woman switched her
grip to Sakura's hands, lacing their fingers so that neither of them
couldn't perform any seals. "None of that!" she commanded, looking just a
tiny bit panicked.

"Like I want to spend any _more_ time in your messed-up head," the pink-
haired girl mumbled sorely, through puffy, stinging cheeks. Then her eyes
widened in realization, and shut her mouth with an audible click. *I have
_got_ stop doing that,* she mused tensely, swallowing as a few drops of cold
sweat tricked down the back of her neck.

Thankfully, however, Anko seemed to take the barb in stride. "Speaking of
that," she continued, her voice betraying an odd mixture of cheeriness,
desperation, and the threat of unspeakable violence, "If you ever tell
_anyone_ about those dreams-"

"Do you think _I_ want people to know that I dream about sleeping with
Orochimaru?" Sakura countered automatically, then cursed her tongue and
tried to put on a reassuring face. "Not a word, really! But I don't want
your dreams in my head either, so I was going to talk to the medical nins
today, and I'll have to tell them _something_..."

"Hmm..." Anko mulled this over for a few moments before coming to a
decision. "I'll _escort_ you there, to confirm to them that they're my
dreams. That way, they won't have to ask for too many details." Unlocking
her legs, Anko climbed off of Sakura and pulled the smaller girl to her feet
before reluctantly releasing her hands. She was apparently still a little
wary of Sakura's earlier bluff. "C'mon, lets go get this over with," she
demanded impatiently.

Breathing an uncertain sigh of relief, Sakura stared for a second at the
rays of bright sunlight now streaming through the window Anko had left open
when she's snuck in. *I guess I can go and train later, assuming she doesn't
still want to arrest me afterward...*

Moving around Anko to close the shutters, she glanced over her shoulder at
her waiting 'escort.' "Alright, just let me get some of the scrolls I was
studying- huh? Aaah! INO?!"

Whipping her head forward, Sakura just barely caught a glimpse of the back
of her rival's head, disappearing behind the peaked roof of the Inuzuka
family compound across the street. The girl had definitely been watching
them through this window- but for how long, and why? "...%#()&, now what?!"

"What is it?" Anko wondered as well, but didn't get an answer as Sakura
hopped up on the sill and pushed off, easily clearing the street in one leap
and landing on the high outer wall surrounding the ancestral home/kennel of
Konoha's local clan of dog-ninja. "Hey, come back here!" the brunette
shouted, following close behind.

Sakura, meanwhile, was leaping from rooftop to rooftop in the compound,
searching for some sign of the blonde girl as the sound of barking dogs
filled the air. She'd have cursed herself for raising an alarm, but right
now she was trying for speed rather than stealth.

It was only a few more seconds before she caught sight of Ino leaving the
Inuzukas' front gate with Kiba hot on her heels. Guessing that her rival
would break right, since the crowds would be thicker as they got closer to
the center of town, Sakura cut a diagonal path across the small estate to
intercept them.

Her gamble paid off; hopping to the ground in front of the pair, Sakura
crossed her arms and waited until Ino and Kiba skidded to a halt before her.
Sensing someone else behind her, the kunoichi of team seven glanced back to
see Anko touch down as well, a displeased look on her face.

*Oops!* Cringing inwardly, Sakura returned her attention to the pair of
harried genin she'd caught, glaring angrily from one to the other. "Why were
you two looking through my window?!" She demanded.

"Hey, I didn't see anything!" Kiba protested loudly, though Sakura didn't
miss the fact that he went red to the gills as he said this. Desperately, he
pointed at Ino. "Her- Her big ass was in the way!"

The fair-haired girl ignored him, however, engaged as she was in a staring
match with the Sakura. "I didn't really believe it before, Sakura, but after
seeing- seeing- _that_, all I can say is... why didn't you tell me?!" Ino
pleaded, her face clouded with all of the anger and betrayal that Sakura
felt _she_ was entitled to, and then some.

"Tell you what?!" Sakura growled defensively, suddenly off balance as she
flinched away at the emotion in her rival's voice

"About _you_! And _her_!" Ino shifted her glare to Anko for a moment, then
returned to Sakura, her expression twisting in disbelief. "Sakura, I thought
we were _friends_!"

"Wha- we are! I don't understand- Ino, what are you talking about?!"
Glancing back to see if the jounin had any idea of what was going on, Sakura
was treated to the shock of her life as Anko stepped forward and drew her
close, draping her arms loosely around Sakura's shoulders in a gentle but
intimate embrace.

With a dramatic sigh, the examiner cast a sad, tender look down at the
stunned girl in her arms. "Well... I suppose it had to happen eventually."

"What?! What are you doing?!" Mouth agape, Sakura nearly gave herself
whiplash as she looked back and forth between Ino and Anko, barely
registering the red-as-a-tomato Kiba watching in the background.

Shaking her head regretfully, the brunette's next words were still
affectionate, but now resonated bittersweet. "I told you that we'd been
sloppy; Yuuhi and some other folks saw us behind the restaurant, the other
day."

*Huh?* This brought Sakura up short. "They saw-? I mean- what did they-?"
Blinking furiously, her panicked emerald eyes dropped to Anko's hands on her
chest, then darted back up to the older woman's adoring gaze, then zipped
over to the trembling bundle of emotion that was Ino.

*What, the only thing we did the behind the restaurant was- aaaAAAAH! OH
()&$!* Struggling free of Anko's embrace, Sakura took a step forward, only
to stop and pale in horror as Ino took a corresponding step back. "Wait! You
can't seriously think I'm- that we're-"

A moment later she found herself captured again, this time much more
thoroughly, as Anko bent forward and grabbed her up in a desperate hug.
"There's no use denying it now, Sakura. Please, just let it go..."

"Y- you can't be serious!" Sputtering, Sakura twisted around to face Anko,
then nearly swallowed her tongue when the corner of the woman's mouth that
the others couldn't see twisted up in a mischievous smirk, and Anko's loving
gaze momentarily became the familiar, hungry leer of a playful predator.

"AAAAAH! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Turning back to Ino, Sakura gave her friend a
desperate look. "Don't believe her, please, she's making it up!"

"I saw you- you- GIVING HER A SHOW!" the blond accused bitterly. "And then
later she sat in your lap and you started kissing and holding hands!"
Dropping her balled fists to her sides, Ino turned away, and the pink-haired
kunoichi could see moisture glittering in her corners of her eyes.

"You're hardly ever home anymore, but nobody knows where you are during the
day! Then you come barging into my shop with _her_ chasing after you, like
she was going to kill you, but later I find you two practically having sex
in the street!" Voice almost cracking with hurt and anger, Ino looked up
once again, her pale blue eyes boring into her rival. "What am I supposed to
believe, Sakura? I just want you to tell me the truth."

*Oh gods, how did this happen?! How can she even think that about me?!* On
the verge of tears herself, Sakura finally managed to partially disengage
herself from Anko. The older woman still reached for her, but she managed to
get far enough away this time that Anko had to settle for grabbing her
trailing arm. "Ino, listen to yourself, this is insane! All I've been doing
is- is- training, to fight you again! I've been _training_!"

Even before she'd finished her sentence, she could tell that Ino wasn't
buying it. As the other girl's expression saddened with fresh betrayal,
Sakura was just about ready to start tearing her hair out. *AAAARGH! THIS IS
SO ($&ING WRONG! WHY WON'T SHE BELIEVE ME?* Why couldn't she believe the
_truth_?! Growling in frustration, Sakura planted a resounding step forward,
shaking her fist in defiance. "...I'll- I'LL PROVE IT TO YOU! INO, I
CHALLENGE YOU!"

The storm clouds upon Ino's face parted for a moment in confusion. "Wha-?"

"THE VILLAGE GATES, IN FIFTEEN MINUTES!" Sakura declared, throwing down the
metaphorical gauntlet by tossing aside Anko's hand. "I'll show you what I've
been doing- and then I'm gonna ()&$ing tear _you_ a new one for starting
this whole mess!" She added, turning her wild-eyed glare upon jounin, who
was giving her a kicked puppy-dog look, before stomping off back toward her
house.

"Y'know, Sakura-chan, you've got some serious impulse control issues..."

"I don't need to hear that from _you_!" the pink-haired kunoichi snarled,
glancing over her shoulder to see Anko climbing in through her window for
the second time that day. Violently cramming a few final items into her
thigh holster, she rounded angrily on her tormentor. "What the _hell_ was
that back there?! Are you (#&$ing nuts?! Why did you encourage her?!"

"It's called 'payback,' dear," Anko drawled sweetly.

"How so?!" Sakura cried in disbelief, throwing her hands into the air.
"You're in it as much as me!"

"Pft- this is nothin'. A little misunderstanding like this is easy fix to
later, so why worry about it?" Moving closer to lean against her desk, the
brunette favored Sakura with a mischievous grin. "And besides, it's
absolutely hilarious watchin' you kids go crazy over it. I mean, you
should'a seen yourself back there- it was like you were havin' friggin'
aneurism or somethin'."

Fairly seething with annoyance, Sakura tore her eyes away from Anko and
squeezed them shut, forcing herself to take deep, even breaths as she slowly
counted to ten. It worried her a bit that she actually had to do it three
times before she felt calm enough to open her eyes again. With a sigh, she
unclenched her fists and turned back to Anko.

She still had to bite back the first words that leapt into her mouth when
she saw the smug look the jounin was wearing, but with an effort she managed
to still her tongue. "...Could you _please_ not egg me on anymore," she
pleaded, fighting to keep her voice calm and even. "This is serious. I never
had 'impulse control issues' before, and it's starting to scare me..."

Frowning, Anko peered critically at the smaller girl. "What, so you really
think it's _my_ dreams that are doin' this to you?"

"...don't make me insult you, Anko," Sakura replied slowly, taking another
moment to collect thoughts. "Look... the last unusual thing that happened to
me before this started is when I possessed you. I'd never tested the
technique before, and I didn't know what it would do."

There was no need for Anko to know that she'd made the jutsu up on the spot,
but it was becoming ever clearer to Sakura that she'd made a terrible
mistake. "There were... side effects. For a little while before we... kissed
behind the restaurant- which was the only way I could think of to break the
technique -I was _becoming_ you. Your mind was leaking into mine."

This brought the examiner right back down to earth. "You didn't tell me that
before," Anko pointed out seriously.

"I thought I had it under control," Sakura explained. "Apparently, I was
wrong..."

"Hmm..." considering this troubling new bit of information, Anko's gaze
drifted down to the thigh holster that Sakura had set down on the desk
beside her. "I think you should probably cancel this little match with your
friend. We should go to the medical center right now."

"No," Sakura answered quickly. For this decision, she didn't need to think
twice. "No... I was going to challenge Ino eventually, so it might as well
be now. I've needed to do this- I've needed to do it for a long time..." she
begged with a small half-smile. "It'll be quick, I hope. I'm pretty sure I
can win this time." Anko's brows furrowed, but somehow Sakura knew that the
examiner wouldn't object.

She was proven correct a couple seconds later, when the taller woman sighed
and clicked her tongue testily. "Fine, whatever- just as long as it doesn't
take forever, like your _last_ fight with her," Anko admonished. Then, with
a wry smirk, she added, "But I take it that you'll wanna postpone your
appointment to 'tear me a new one'?"

"Indefinitely," Sakura assured her. *I can't believe I said that...* Unsure
whether to laugh or apologize, the pink-haired girl simply smiled a little
wider.

Anko nodded in satisfaction. "Good..." A moment later, however, her eyes
narrowed in disapproval. "And since when are we on a first name basis?"

"What?"

"You called me 'Anko' a few seconds ago. Not Mitarashi-san, or Anko-sama, or
anything- just 'Anko.'"

"...why on earth would I call you Anko-sama?"

"Because you love me dearly, and we have incredible lesbian sex every
night."

"..."

"Well c'mon- if you _insist_ on denying the evidence of our love in front of
everyone, let's get it over with!"

"...why are you doing this to me?"

"Because it's fun!"
