That's not necessary.  Apparently the 1996 Fox TV movie with Paul
McGann is canon -- McGann is counted among the Doctors to make
Eccleston 9th and his successor 10th -- and in that movie it was
revealed that the Doctor is half Earth-human.

I would argue that the Doctor's DNA changes every time he  
regenerates, and as such, 8th Doctor (who is made of awesome, by the  
way, and you should listen to the Shada radioplay if you've not yet:  
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/webcasts/shada/) could easily  
be half-human while 7th and 9th (etc.) being pure Gallifrean.
