It could possibly be through Hermione's father's side (a grandmother or
great grandmother?) It would also explain why Hermione could regenerate like
a Gallifrian, she's less than 50% human. 5/8ths or 9/16ths if it is one or
two generation back (though it would be cute if Susan is a grandmother.)
During the time of the seventh Doctor, it was stated that the Doctor
is/was Merlin. I wonder if that is going to play a role in this fic.

In the novels, it was implied that the Doctor has regenrated more than
nine times(prepetual regeneration to make up for some evil(giving the
Time Lords regneration or something else)) and his wandering is not
random(he goes where he needs to go). It has been implied that he was
there when Rassilon and Omega made their contributions to Gallifrey and
his the third in the group. If you go by the Brain of Morbius episode,
this is the 15th or 16th Doctor
Hmm. I've been out of Doctor Who for a long time. But that's been hinted at
for a really long time.
