Dude, a "Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" fanfic. I am in awe.

BTW, this was one of the few animes where I watched the first epsiode

Of course, I actually like High School Girls, so take that for what
you will.

The first episode was intentionally very bad. It gets much better
afterwards, but you watched Haruhi's project for the school festival.
The SOS Brigade's movie. I'd say give episode two a shot. If it
doesn't work for you, well....

Haruhi is very much one of those you-love-it-or-you-loathe-it anime, it
appears. But I'm firmly in the former camp. If Haruhi fails for you,
you might like Higurashi ... though, I like both. ;)

I really love this series - partly because about a minute in I realized what
was going on and found it increasingly funny. Interestingly, a lot of people
who reviewed this series gave an extremely high rating to either the first
or the second episode, but not often to both. (Although almost everyone
loves the anime ending - I like the version someone did with Gundam models.)

I would definitely recommend watching at least the first four episodes,
through the baseball game (that's the first four in Kyon's numbering, which
corresponds to the release order, as opposed to Haruhi's numbering, which
corresponds to the timeline in the story).

I really liked this story so far - it quite captured a hard-to-capture
series. Kyon's voice seemed a little off, until I read your note about it
being based more on the novels. At any rate, well done, and I look Forward
to more!
