My immodest proposal is to think about fertilizing
that second root, by opening the
list to original stories, using original characters.
It seems to me that we are more
likely to learn more from each other, and become
better writers, if we occasionally take off the 
training wheels.

Yeah!  Bring on the Self-Insertions!  I want to see an
upsurge in the interest in that field.  Can they still
be done with style and original flair?  I like to
think so.  ^_^

Heh.

Seriously though, it has been my understanding that
stories with an [original] tag are welcome here on the
list, as long as they have a strong anime flavor.  And
isn't that what we're all here for?  The anime flavoring?
