Heh. Tighten that screw: Usagi going fan-crazy
about Rei's long-time enemy...

Yup. I think Rei's gotten off fairly easy so far in terms of her
past. No matter how reformed she is, she was once one of the top
Sisters in her order. Usagi, having been raised by the White Order, is
bound to have a very different view of Alieva's crew than Rei does, and
there are bound to be emotional landmines lurking just under the surface
waiting for the unwary to blunder into them.

You know I hadn't really thought about it in that way, but I can see it
now that you mention it.

Things have been happening quickly, not giving our heroes much time
for quiet introspection, but yes, there are still many issues simmering
just under the surface, and not just between Rei and Usagi.

There are only certain things the key reacts to at this point.
Succubi may be bad news, but they're more small dark than big Dark, if
you know what I mean.

At this point... intentional word choice? If so, very interesting indeed.

    Mmmmmmaybe. ^_^

 This is it, Peorth.
This is all that remains."

You know, I can't help but wonder, what is the main draw for the
hyperlink key to the players that want it? Obviously from most people's
point of view it's primary function is worthless, (as I understand it) from
all the talk about the Zero Limit. So, what makes it so desirable?

A very good question. Wynneth has gone to great lengths to get this
artifact. If it can't perform the main function we have witnessed (i.e.
open a hyperlink to another world) then what on earth does she intend to
do with the thing? Hmmm ... what use a key, without a lock?

I can honestly say that you will definitely find out next chapter
whether or not you are right.

Heh.

It's about time some of the mysteries were dragged out into the
light. This isn't Lost, after all.

Yes, need is different from want. They are powerful, and definitely
would be valuable assets for a new vampire-goddess, but is that all, or
do they play a larger role in her schemes?

Tease. :)

You say that like it's a bad thing!

In fact, where is the Voice? Busy perhaps? Its
attention preoccupied by, say, the prayers of its
followers, suddenly subject to a unprecedented
attack?

It's in a bad cell. "Can you hear me NOW?"

Snrk!

"A tower," Hild sighed, a feeling of dread
settling over her. "Silkaine's stronghold within
Vasta Min. The rumours were true."

Heh. Gee, why did we somehow suspect that Vasta
Min wasn't such a conspiracy theory after all?
So much for Mars' being the perceptive one regarding
ancient history...

There'll be no living with Minako if this gets out. And Rei hates
being wrong.

So, if there is any justice in the world, it WILL get out. <EG>

And Minako will do the "I was right" dance, big time. And maybe
provoke Rei into ... punishing her. <boom chikka chikka wah wah!>

She believes it. We know that they're all wrong, of course. Wonder
what will happen if they find out where Ranma's really from?

Oh, that's BOUND to be interesting.

More than that, potentially shattering to their world view.
Remember, Hild is certain that no one exists to bring her to account for
her "crimes", as Peorth calls them. What will happen if she finds out
there may still be someone who can do that? She may decide that it's
necessary to eliminate anyone who could implicate her in those "crimes",
for starters ...

Heh. Nice echoes of Rei's and Ami's musings back
in chapter 9, except with a vastly expanded time
scale. We're probably talking hundreds of thousands
of years here.

Yes, a very long timeline indeed. Lots of room for stories in
there, let me tell you.

^_^

    I like big playgrounds.

V speculated that it might be the name of one of the Underlords,
given its location, but there was no real evidence to support that. The
only way the two might be reconciled is if the Underlords, or some of
them, were descendents of those ancient regulators who preceded the
Wardens. Hmmmm ...

Interesting.

You are right in the first instance. She was in the palace's crisis
centre, her order was to get everyone off the watch and under cover.
For all the good that might have done. As for the second, her ultimate
fate remains to be seen ...

I'd hate to see her bite it, but the story goes where it wills more often
than not.

Her fate will be revealed in the next chapter, for good or ill.
Promise.

Thank you for taking the time once again to C&C these two chapters.
I'm hard at work on the next chapter, and it promises to be a doozy.

Whoah! That coming from you is just plain scary!

Not in a bad way, but still....

Rest assured, I consider that a compliment. Thanks for the
commentary, and hopefully the next chapter will live up to expectations.
