This is one of the few fics I'm working on over at the Anime Addventure

The others: Macross/Babylon, Sailor Magic(despite the title, it's a
Slayers fic with Lina being like Sailor V), Slayers Project L, and a few
others

I might as well add to the list traffic with something.
================================================================

At his home in the United State, Dr. Thomas Xavier Light was working on
one of his non-robot projects. He shook his head when MegaMan came back
from the last foiling of Dr. Wily's plans.

"That went faster than usual," Dr. Light said.

"Yeah. Well, I don't think he was trying all that hard," MegaMan
replied. "He seems to be testing something by these attacks."

Dr. Light frowned. "I'll have to go over the footage to see what was
going on."

"No problem. I'll get it downloaded in a second."

"After that, you'd better get yourself recharged," Dr. Light said.

MegaMan nodded and made a connection with one of Dr. Light's computers
and downloaded the information. After doing that, MegaMan left for his
recharge booth. Before Dr. Light could look at the footage from the
battle, the phone rang and Dr. Light answered.

"Hello. This Light Laboratories," Dr. Light said.

"Dr. Light. This is the Mayor. I've recently been asked by the Japanese
government to send a request to you."

"Go on."

The Mayor said, "There has been some strange incidents going on in an
area of Japan and they want someone to investigate."

"I'll send MegaMan right away," Dr. Light assured.

"No."

"No?" Dr. Light repeated.

"MegaMan is too famous and too well known for this investigation, and
Rush is too obvious," the Mayor explained.

"Roll?" Dr. Light asked, even though he knew the answer.

"Yes. Her. She's not well known outside the United States. According to
her dossier, she'd be perfect for this mission."

"Dossier? What dossier?" Dr. Light asked, a bit bewildered.

"Her government file. The government keeps files on all the robots you
and Dr. Wily have created Dr. Light," the Mayor replied. "Those files
are in the same category as yours and Dr. Wily's files."

Dr. Light grimaced, as he heard that answer. "I don't like the sound of
that, but tell me why she was chosen."

"Very well. I will read her dossier to you," the Mayor replied. "She is
intelligent and resourceful. She seems to have picked up Dr. Light's
knack for inventing, but can do it with much fewer tools. She wants to
constantly prove herself, but starts to have self doubts when it looks
like she might actually show herself to be more competent than MegaMan
and hesitates, causing her to look incompetent. However, when she needs
to be competent and is in no danger of upstaging MegaMan, she pulls
through admirably. The various abilities she has built into her arm
might not be as strong as the abilities in Dr. Wily's robots, but are
not to be taken lightly. She is far more versatile than Dr. Wily's
robots, since she has multiple abilities compared to a purpose built
robot like ElecMan. Her physical strength is not as great as most of Dr.
Wily's robots or MegaMan, but she is still much stronger than most
construction robots and can easily lift about three tons with one hand.
This strength is speculative based on her catching the shrink ray that
Dr. Wily used on the cities one handed while driving the Sky Cycle.
Since she was built by Dr. Light and does assist him, it is speculated
that she has most of the same scientific skills that Dr. Light does.
That is what I was sent by the US government, Dr. Light."

Dr. Light remained quiet as he thought about what he was told about Roll
from an outside source.

"Dr. Light? Are you still there?"

"Yes. I'm still here. I just realized I've been something of an idiot,"
Dr. Light replied.

The Mayor laughed. "You were too close to see her strengths and she was
usually getting upstaged by MegaMan and Dr. Wily's robots. Now then, can
I get you to send her to Tokyo."

Dr. Light sighed. "Yes. I'll also have to come up with some way to get
some equipment over to Japan for Roll to use."

"Didn't you used to have a lab over in Japan?" The Mayor asked.

Dr. Light winced. "Yes. I still own the land it sits on and sealed the
lab up after I emptied it out. I haven't thought of it in years."

"There's your answer. Have new equipment sent to the lab and Roll will
go along to make sure that it gets set up properly, so you have a
back-up lab. The Japanese movement has already got some common
scientific equipment ready to be installed. That should be a reasonable
cover for Dr. Wily and MegaMan. No offense to MegaMan, but he does seem
to be a slight bit of male chauvinist. I'll send you what they have
gotten ready and the problem that they want Roll to investigate.
Speaking of which, if you do go this route, you'll have to buy the
equipment. The transport and installation is free"

Dr. Light winced but nodded. "I'll make the preparations."

Dr. Light hung up the phone and checked through some of his files. He
nodded when he saw that he did have a pair of large hover trucks filled
with all the equipment need to get an emergency lab running. Combining
the equipment on one of the trucks to what the Japanese government would
have ready would make the basis for an excellent back-up lab. He looked
over what Roll would be investigating and grimaced.

'Roll will find out after she arrives in Japan,' Dr. Light thought and
scribbled a note down on a daily planner. 'I'll look over that footage
MegaMan took later.'

========

The humanoid robot known as Roll frowned, as she hunted for Dr. Light.
He was not in his lab like usual and there wasn't a peep out of Dr.
Wily. She went down to the garage to get the Sky Cycle to search the
city, but was a bit surprised to see Dr. Light having one of the
non-sentient robots to shove the Sky Cycle onto one of the two largest
hover-trucks.

"Dr. Light? What are you up to?" Roll asked.

Dr. Light turned and waved Roll over. "I'm getting things ready to have
a back-up lab equipped. We might need it if this lab gets destroyed
again and Wily is attacking. If I or Mega went to get the lab set up,
Dr. Wily would attack and there is a good chance the lab would be
destroyed."

"I see. You want me to set it up?" Roll asked.

"Right. Dr. Wily is just going to ignore you, since he believes that I
don't send you out on important missions," Dr. Light replied.

'You don't,' Roll thought, but didn't vocalize it. "Very well Doctor
Light, I'll get on it."

Dr. Light handed Roll a small folder with some papers inside it. "This
will have all you need to find where the lab is. There is also a
microchip with further instructions when you get to the lab. Oh, Roll?"

"Yes."

"This is an important mission that MegaMan can't do, so don't doubt
yourself," Dr. Light said.

"Huh?" Roll said in confusion. 'Setting up a lab is easy. I think Dr.
Light is just trying to make me feel better.'

Roll looked through the folder and saw the lab was in Japan. Roll called
up her Japanese language program and shook her head. She got into the
truck and took off for the country of Japan. Back at Light Laboratories,
MegaMan found Dr. Light going over the footage from yesterday.

"Dr. Light, have you seen Roll?" MegaMan asked.

"I sent her to Japan to set up a back-up laboratory," Dr. Light replied
absently.

"Oh. Well at least she won't be throwing herself in danger while doing
that," MegaMan replied.

'That's what you think Mega,' Dr. Light thought, worried about his
creation. 'I hope that dossier is right and that Roll can do the job on
her own.'

========

Once she reached Japan, Roll contacted an airport tower and explained
what she was doing in Japan. She quickly got the permission to land the
hover-truck at Dr. Light's old abandoned lab. Stepping out f the truck,
Roll looked at the weathered old building in distaste. It looked like a
large warehouse with two skylights. The original paint was probably
white, but it was hard to tell with all the dirt and grime over it.

"I can't believe Dr. Light would let this place get so bad," Roll
muttered. "Oh well, it's time to get this lab set up."

Roll soon saw some ordinary trucks pull up and human men using tow
motors and forklifts started working on unloading the trucks. Roll
turned and started using some of Dr. Light's work saving inventions to
unload the hover-truck. After a few hours, everything was unloaded from
the trucks and Roll looked over everything. She made the appropriate
good-byes to the human workers, as they left. The first thing Roll did
was getting a recharge bed set up and activated.

"It should take about three days to get this set up, but I'd better see
what the specific instructions are from Dr. Light," Roll said, as her
left arm turned itself into a data reader.

Roll inserted the data chip and waited for Dr. Light's message to play out.

Dr. Light's voice echoed in Roll's mind.

"Roll, I'm afraid I haven't been entirely honest with you. The lab was a
cover to send you to Japan without Dr. Wily suspecting anything. The
Japanese government wants you to investigate some strange happenings. To
this end, there has been some work to allow you to pass for a transfer
student."

'I'm a robot, I don't need to go to school. I'm programmed with the
skills needed to work,' Roll thought.

"MegaMan could not handle this job, due to his fame. There is something
you need to know. You might not be able to lie, but you don't have to
answer a question. As to what the Japanese government wants you to
investigate, you'll be going into the Juuban Ward to investigate
sightings of girls fighting with magical powers," the recording of Dr.
Light said.

Roll tilted her head to one side. "You have got to be kidding me."

"Furthermore, this chip will with the your arm's components act as
holographic camouflage to conceal your arm bracer."

There were further instructions on how to blend into Japanese society
and the name of the school that Roll would be attending while in Japan.
The robot looked around the lab and shook her head.

'If I'm going to be investigating girls with magic powers, I'm going to
have set the lab up differently than what Dr. Light usually has,' Roll
thought, as she removed the chip and opened her bracer up.

Installing the chip, Roll nodded as the bracer faded away to make it
look like Roll's arm was uncovered. She found a box that had 'mission
supplies' written in Japanese on it. Opening it up, she saw that it had
schoolgirl uniforms and drawings based on descriptions of the Sailor
Senshi. As Roll picked up one of the drawings, Roll's memory replayed
what Dr. Light last said to her in person.

"This is an important mission that MegaMan can't do, so don't doubt
yourself," Dr. Light said.

'Okay, Dr. Light," Roll thought. 'I'll do my best. I should have some
sort of government contact. If not, I'll have to build a booster and use
it to boost the signal so I call Dr. Light on my arm communicator.'

Roll removed the yellow and red jumpsuit that was her signature clothing
and put on one of the school uniforms. She had some difficulty getting
the pants of her jogging suit over her lower legs, but she did it. She
smiled when she found some socks that would go over her feet that Dr.
Light had sent.

'Really heavy padding to prevent my feet from damaging the floor of the
school. I'll have to replicate that chip twice and install one in each
leg,' Roll thought.'

As she worked on duplicating the chip, Roll went over her what she had
to do. She shook her head at the absurdity of it all. As soon as she got
the chips done and installed, she saw that Dr. Light had built two new
aid robots in the same mold as Eddie, except done in red, and Doc,
except done in blue. She quickly activated them and told them of her
mission.

'Dr. Light is really sending me on a mission on my own," Roll thought
with a bit of excitement and dread.

The robot built like Eddie she called Flip and the one built like Doc,
she called Med. She found a mirror and saw that with the holochips
installed in her limbs, she looked like a teenage girl. She frowned as
she felt the energy drain from the chips on her systems.

'I won't be running forty-eight hours straight without recharging, while
those chips are installed. They've cut my energy efficiency by about
twenty percent,' Roll thought and then grimaced. 'I know it's part of my
cover, but it feels wrong. I'm supposed to refer to Dr. Light as my
father and not mention his name.'

Shaking her head she sat finished what she could before she sat down in
the recharging bed and powered herself up for the next day.

========

Roll got herself ready and headed for Juuban High to attend classes and
to start her investigation of the Sailor Senshi. She did make sure she
was fully charged up before she left the lab, since she had no idea what
she was getting involved with. Once there she was assigned a room to
attend classes.

"Students, this is Roll Light from the United States. She will be
attending classes with us for a while," Miss Haruna announced.

Roll bowed and said in perfect Japanese. "I am honored to meet you and
be here."

Miss Haruna pointed to a seat next to a girl with two long ponytails.
Without saying anything more, Roll went over to the seat and sat down.
Roll noticed she was also next to a girl with auburn hair. The girl with
ponytails turned to Roll.

"Hello my name is Usagi Tsukino. I hope you enjoy Juuban," the girl said
enthusiastically.

Roll smiled and held out her hand. Usagi hesitated for a moment but then
shook Roll's hand. The auburn haired girl shook her head in amusement
and introduced herself.

"I'm Naru Osaka."

"Hello," Roll replied. "I'd like to talk to both of you at lunch, but I
think class is about to start and we really should pay attention."

Even though she didn't need to due to her photographic memory, Roll took
notes during the various classes to maintain her cover. Other than
Science, Math, Japanese, and English classes, Roll did gain a lot of
information during the various classes. At lunch, she faced a challenge
to her ethics to not lie.

"Roll? Where's your lunch?" Usagi asked.

"I didn't bring one," Roll replied.

"Well, you can share some of mine," Usagi offered.

"Thank you, but no."

Usagi pouted as she looked at Roll. "But, you'll starve."

'How do I get out of this without revealing I'm a robot. Maybe that will
work,' Roll thought as she looked at Usagi.

"I'll be fine Usagi. I have...special dietary requirements and I can
only ingest certain things," Roll replied. "As soon as I get home, I'll
deal with it."

"But,..." Usagi objected. "Why didn't you bring any food with you."

"There are reasons," Roll replied. 'Yes, reasons. Like if I tried to
drink the bottled plasma, I'd glow green for a second.'

Seeing Usagi's still worried face, Roll shook her head and smiled.
"Don't worry; I've had all my life to get used to this."

"Well, okay," Usagi said, reluctantly dropping the subject.

The rest of the school day went smoothly for Roll. Usagi had
accidentally fallen asleep in class and was sent to stand in the hall
with a bucket of water. Fortunately for Usagi, it was the last class and
she didn't have to stand that long. After school, the three girls walked
alongside each other. They soon stopped at a jewelry store and Roll
looked at the building. She noticed a living quarters above the store.

"I take it you live here?" Roll asked Naru.

"Yes, my mom owns the store and I help her out," Naru replied, nodding.

Roll shrugged. "I'm not one for jewelry. Gemstones are more use in
scientific work."

"So you intend to be a scientist?" Naru asked.

"You could say it's a family business. That's one of the reasons I'm in
Japan for. I'm setting up secondary lab for research purposes," Roll
replied. "I could be spared from what's going on back home," Roll replied.

"Must be nice to be so smart," Usagi said.

"Maybe, but it's not that important," Roll said.

Naru waved at the two of them. "See you at school tomorrow. Usagi, don't
forget to study."

Usagi made a face, but waved her goo-byes to Naru. Roll also departed
Usagi and headed back to the lab. Once there she checked to see what her
energy reserves were and changed back into her normal attire. She
quickly memorized the chapters from her schoolbooks. After that, she
spent all of ten minutes doing the homework.

"Med do a diagnostic on me, before I start working on the lab," Roll said.

The beeping noises coming from the dark blue and white robot would make
no sense to a human, but to Roll they made perfect sense. She allowed
Med to attach a wire to her arm brace to pull up her diagnostic
routines. After assuring Roll that she was still functioning at proper
efficiency, Med detached the wires. Roll looked at the lab and started
setting up some of the smaller equipment. The first piece of equipment
she set up was a scanner to scan the surrounding neighborhood. Turning
it on to see if it worked, Roll blinked in surprise.

"I really hope that's a glitch in the system, but I'd better check out
that weird energy reading. Flip, I need two cans to get to full charge,"
Roll stated loudly.

The red and gray robot opened his top and Roll removed two cans from it.
As she drank the liquid plasma from each can, a nimbus of green light
surrounded her.

"Flip, I'm going to investigate this. If I signal, bring the Sky Cycle.
Dr. Light added something to it, so it would home in on me," Roll
instructed.

"Will do, Roll," the small robot assured.

Roll was about to run right into her first encounter with the Sailor
Senshi "

After leaving the lab, Roll made her way into the city and soon found
herself outside an art gallery. Looking at the art gallery, she saw a
broken window with a strange scene. She saw a young woman with glasses
being threatened by a floating person holding a black double termination
crystal towards the woman.

'Okay is that a girl or boy? I can't tell,' Roll thought.

The robot girl's thoughts were derailed when a bolt of black energy
leapt from the crystal and struck the woman in the chest. What looked
like a black warp appeared on the woman and a green gem lifted out of
the spiraling blackness.

'Sizzling circuits! That poor woman. I have to do something,' Roll
thought, as her left hand pulled back into the arm bracer.

As Roll's left arm revealed the vacuum cleaner, the person in the gray
outfit said in a loud voice. "Wake up, Monster Vena!"

Roll looked on in shock as the woman turned into a green skinned woman
with white wings, wearing a pink dress. A large gold ornament adorned
each shoulder of the newly transformed woman.

'I don't know what's going on, but the chances of that guy being male
went up, due to the voice,' Roll thought. 'I'd better pull back a bit
and think on how I'm going to tackle this problem. That woman is
probably under some kind of mind control and I'll have to fight her. I'm
not Mega. I don't have a plasma blaster.'

The robot girl faded back into the shadow of a building and mentally
went through some plans. A loud voice stopped her rapidly forming plan.

"Moon Prism Power! Make Up!"

Roll looked around and saw a young girl heading towards the art gallery.
The girl was dressed in a white cheerleader outfit with a blue skirt.
The girl was wearing white gloves that reached her elbows and at each
elbow was some kind of guard done in red. A pair of red boots, a large
red bow on the chest, and a similar bow at the small of the back
completed the outfit. Roll saw that the two in the art gallery were
flying towards a construction site.

'She looks familiar,' Roll thought and quietly followed the trio. 'That
might be one of the girls that I'm supposed to find information on.'

Roll grabbed her arm brace with her right hand and gritted her teeth.
'I'd better not do anything obvious, unless stuff gets out of hand. I
don't know what I'm dealing with.'

She watched as the girl confronted the guy in gray and Vena. Unlike
humans, Roll could shut down her voice and did so to allow her to groan
in exasperation without being heard. She reactivated her voice and
stared at Sailor Moon, who had just finished her introductory speech.

'That was...well...stupid,' Roll thought. 'So, the guy's name is Zoicite.'

"Sailor Moon, whatever. Play with her Monster Vena," Zoicite said calmly.

Vena formed a feather quill and tossed it above Sailor Moon. The quill
drew an image of a rock in the sky and the rock became real and fell.
Sailor Moon dodged the rock and Vena started firing off more quills to
draw more rocks.

'It's time to derail this rain of thoughts,' Roll thought and her left
hand retracted and was replaced by a dust buster vacuum.

Roll fired a blast of dust that covered Vena, Zoicite and obscured
vision all around. She ceased putting the cloud of dust out and hid back
behind a building and her arm returned to its default setting. Roll
noticed with satisfaction that both Vena and Zoicite were coughing at
her little stunt. Sailor Moon was now being carried above the dust cloud
by a man dressed in a tuxedo.

"Tuxedo Kamen!" Sailor Moon declared. "Thanks for saving me."

Tuxedo Kamen looked down at the dust cloud and bit his lower lip and
then shook his head. Tuxedo Kamen landed and set Sailor Moon down. Still
coughing, Zoicite saw Tuxedo Kamen and growled. The Dark General ran
through a halfway completed hallway with Tuxedo Kamen right behind.
Sailor Moon saw Vena, who was still coughing from the dust and lifted
the Moon Scepter.

"Moon Healing Escalation!"

Motes of energy rained down upon Vena and the image of a crescent moon
appeared in front of the monster.

"Refresh!"

Roll watched as Vena turned back into a human being and dropped to the
ground, just as three more people dressed like Sailor Moon showed up.
There was also a cat with a crescent moon on its forehead and started
talking in a female voice.

"Make sure she's all right. I have to make sure Tuxedo Kamen is okay,"
Sailor Moon said as she ran the direction the two men went.

'Okay. I'd better see what's going on with that. I'll have to be careful
that those three girls and that cat don't see me. Sailor Moon really
needs to work on speeding up her attacks,' Roll thought. 'I wish I had
Rush with me, so I could fly after Sailor Moon. Well, maybe not.'

Roll stealthily made her way from the site of Vena being defeated to see
Sailor Moon toss her tiara into the path of an attack by Zoicite and
saving Tuxedo Kamen.

'If Mega saw this, he'd be eating his words,' Roll thought with amusement.

Roll cranked her audio receivers up so she could listen in on the
conversation between Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. The robot girl heard
that the green crystal that Zoicite had taken was one of a group of
stones called the Rainbow Crystals. She also heard the critical
information that there were seven stones and four had been found
already. One was held by Sailor Moon, one by Tuxedo Mask and two by
something called the Dark Kingdom

'Zoicite must work for the Dark Kingdom. If I can get a hold of one of
the Rainbow Crystals and that black gem thing of Zoicite's, I think I
can get all seven gems gathered. I'll have to wait until all seven are
released, before making a move on that black gem. I don't know what the
Dark Kingdom wants those crystals for, but I don't intend to let them
have it,' Roll thought.

Roll waited until both of the magical warriors left before she headed
back to the lab. She had a plan already formed on how to deal with the
Rainbow Crystals. As soon as she reached the lab, she put a basic plan
down on a piece of paper and then went over to the recharging bed and
put herself in standby mode until it was time to get ready for school.

========

Sailor Moon went back to the other Sailor Senshi to make sure the
painter Yumeni was okay from being turned into a Youma.

"You did very well for yourself, Sailor Moon," Luna said.

"If it wasn't for Tuxedo Mask putting out that dust cloud, I don't think
I could have lasted as long," Sailor Moon replied.

Sailor Mercury was examining the slowly descending dust with her visor
and computer.

"If he did it, he didn't use magic to do it," Sailor Mercury said.
"There is no magic in the dust cloud."

Sailor Moon shook her head sadly. "It doesn't matter how he did it, he
helped me out. But still, he did say that he was going to take the
Rainbow Crystal I had when the time came."

"You can't trust him, Sailor Moon," Luna said. "It's time to head back
home."

"What about Yumeni?" Sailor Moon asked.

"She's coming to and she'll be all right," Sailor Mercury said.

The four Sailor Senshi stood on a fence until Yumeni had fully woken up
and saw them. Luna had already left for the Tsukino home before that.
The four girls looked at Yumeni and jumped away, leaving the artist
inspiration to paint more pictures and the courage to stop hiding.

========

The next day at school, Roll listened in on the classes with part of her
attention elsewhere. During the day, a test was given out to all the
students. If Roll hadn't been preoccupied with what happened the
previous night, she would have avoided the mistake of getting a perfect
score on the test.
