I heard nothing but good things about Kimagure Orange College way back when.
KOR was never my cup of tea, but I think you can start from there...

And this one actually fits within the FAQ-as-written too.

Some members of this list will already have heard this from me (from my 
posting on raam), but I recently picked up (via the current AnimEigo sale) 
and watched the entirety of Kimagure Orange Road (48 eps, 8 OAVs, 1 movie - 
if there's more, I'd dearly love to know).

I have a new addition to my list of favorite anime.  I'm sure part of it is 
the nostalgia of the 'style' of 80s anime, but hey...

Now I'm feeling like I don't want it to end, so I am looking for good KOR 
fanfic to read.  I tend to favor longer fanfics over short ones, as I also 
tend to be a fairly fast reader.  So, any recommendations are welcome 
privately to me at petrukio@rcn.com.
