Look, you were tempbanned for actively exhorting people on the list to
buy something you'd written.
No. I was tempbanned for joyously announcing I'd gotten a *contract*
for a book and then saying, "okay, when it comes out in three years,
everybody buy a few copies, okay?" This, in your particular idiom,
qualified as "advertising". But not "real" advertising, as you told
me in private mail, because "real" advertising would have justified
a permanent ban. I tried to make the point that either it was
advertising or not, and if it was, I ought to be permanently banned,
and if it wasn't, I shouldn't have been tempbanned at all. You
insisted that there were unspecified degrees of advertisement and
that my "ad" wasn't bad enough to merit a permanent ban from the
list.
I'm working through a web gateway right now, but I believe I have
the original post plus all the "backroom" discussion still in one
of my saved mail folders. When I can sit down and go through
those, I will determine the date of my alleged advertisement and
provide a link to the relevant FFML archive file, so that any
interested persons can determine the truth of the matter for
themselves.
You obviously don't think that was fair. But it's ridiculous to
extrapolate that any mentioning of professional works will get one
banned.
Why are there no other pro writers on the list? Why did the ones
we have leave, even though they still write fanworks for anime?
