It's worth noting that in that case, you could always send the "good
job" directly to the author rather than the whole list. (I would
recommend it, actually.) Speaking as an author myself, I can say that
having my Inbox cluttered with "good job" e-mails would not be a problem
for me at all. The opposite, in fact - as someone else just posted,
even a short one-line C&C like that tells me something important to me:
that someone is reading and enjoying my writing.
