    If nothing else, reading Poe gave me insight into Duo's
unique flair for the dramatic; not to mention his biting, dark
sense of humor.

Nitpick: Did he look it up on the way to the ball? On whatever transport
they took? Perhaps this would be strengthened with some more description
of him looking it up, or move it to after the mission? (except that might
detract from the flow of the story)

I was actually thinking that this was maybe a day before the actual mission. 
Since I failed miserably at staying under 500 words, I suppose I could add a 
bit of clarification.

Non Sequitur? How does this scene resonate with Duo's sense of humour? (
except the dead people )

If you *DID* mean the dead people, maybe a mumbled poe quote would be good
here?

I did mean the dead people, and the Poe quote is a good idea.  I'll see if I 
can find one that's most appropriate.

But I do love the story, even if im not much of a Wing fan.
I like the unflappable Heero being perturbed more by the symbolism of the
assassination, when he himself would have been perfectly alright sniping
the guy in broad daylight.
