Alright players, keep it clean.

Yes... well, I suppose I should have mentioned, in the midst of of my
response, that I have long admired Lurker as one of the better examples of
fanfiction authors.

So really, Lurker, I was never out to attack you.  Actually, knowing that
you've written HP fanfiction makes my search for "gems amidst the sludge"

so

much easier.  I'd be very interested to read your HP fics -- on list,

should

things change that way, or off.  And I'm not in the habit of kissing up to
anyone for the sake of easing wounded feelings, so you should take this at
face value.  :D

It's cool. I can appreciate where you're coming from, because I've certainly
seen enough of the phenomenon you mention myself. I just have a hot-button
about people who say "Well, I haven't seen it but I've HEARD..." yadda
yadda.

THAT, not the generalisation about HP fanfiction, was what really set me
off. ^^;; I'll readily agree there's piles of pure garbage out there in the
fandom, and most of it is the same problem that plagues Inuyasha and Naruto
fanfic: hyperactive teenage fangirls who are way too obsessed with Gay Homo
Love for their own good.

The same problem, alas, plagues my own pet fandom, Meitantei Conan. Of all
the Meitantei Conan fics on FF.net--and there is a surprisingly vast
majority of them--less than 20% are actually worth reading, and of THOSE,
about 85% are short one-shot drabbles/poems, or are slash, or are just
AUs/pairing fics I'm just not interested in, even though they're written
well enough and everything.

I realise that this actually makes the Conan fanfic community one of the
LEAST plagued on the Internet--ironically--but it still makes it a pain in
the ass to sift through it all and find the stuff I actually want to read.

But then, that's pretty much the entire problem with FF.net, isn't it?

(Not that the problem is LIMITED to FF.net by ANY stretch of the
imagination--it's just the easiest place to point the Finger Of Blame at.
