I agree, we need to open this up to other fandoms, breath new life into

the

place, but whenever I read that phrase, I get visions of hacking through
Alley McBeal and Magnum PI fanfics.

My suggestion, try opening the place up slowly.
Start with US Comic/Cartoon, SF/Fantasy, and RPG fics.  After all, most of
us, past and present, are members of at least one, if not all of these
fandoms as well as that of anime.

Only then, if that hasn't gotten things to move along, do we consider

adding

fandoms.
