It was kinda subtle, maybe too much, I dunno. Basically it was saying 
that Knives' whole thing with wiping out humanity was to make Vash 
oppose him, so that he'd have an excuse to kill Vash.
(Of course, a sensible man would just empty a gun into his head, but as 
established, Knives is nuts.)
