i dont understand this whole ice cream deal in the ranma 1/2 fanfictions,
why is eating ice cream a feminine trait? do women enjoy ice cream better
than men do or something, plenty of fanfictions use this as some sort of
device or joke or something, and while giving them the benifit of the

doubt

i really dont understand what makes ice cream so girly.

Uh, no. The ice cream thing is very much canon.

See, some writer probably thought that eating ice cream was a feminine
trait, and so gave Ranma that opinion, and that thought meme propogated
itself.

Uh, no. In the very episode in which Shampoo was introduced to the series (I
think; it's been a while, so I can't remember the exact episode, just the
scene), Ranma explains his hangup about ice cream to Akane while they're
both eating very large, gaudy parfaits.

Now, is eating ice cream girly?  I don't think so, though I can see where
some would think it rather hedonistic.

But what YOU think doesn't matter, because this is a canon issue; Ranma, IN
CANON, only eats ice cream when he's a girl, because to him--and to most
Japanese men--it is not manly to be seen eating ice cream.
