I had someone e-mail me, today, who remembers me from a few years ago when I
was still active here (and, at one time, ran an interim form of this list
when it had gone down for a while), and asked me why I'd not been posting
this Naruto fanfic I'd been writing -- for fifty-four chapters, now -- here
on the FFML.

Well, the answer is twofold -- one, I'd just overlooked it.  The FFML of
today isn't NEARLY as active as it used to be, and I haven't seen much of
anything come through that interests me (i.e., in a series and genre that I
like to read) in ages.  Besides, the point of sending something to the FFML
is (or was) to recieve critical editing, but this is a (largely -- I'll make
a few minor changes if I get a flood of complaints about a minor error
caused by working on the fic at 3:30am in the morning... don't ask)
one-draft fic, so the sort of critiques I would send a fic here, for (and
almost never get, but that's hardly the issue in this case), aren't exactly
needed.  Really, though, I guess you could say 'I forgot.'

The other reason is that I'm not writing in easily-converted-to-ascii
format, any more -- italics and the like don't show up on this list, so I
figure it's probably not a good idea to post the fic directly here.

However, I have been posting it to ff.net and mediaminer.org (and intend to
post it to my homepage at http://davecon.anifics.com , once the announced
hardware upgrades at my ISP have come through that allow me to reset the
hardwired firewall of the cablemodem to allow for FTP uploads and
delete\replace functions), and so I suppose I could give the links here, if
anyone is interested.

The summary, if you're intersted, would be  'A
action\adventure\romance\political intrigue\coming of age\drama with hints
of comedy telling of Naruto and Sakura's growth during years of training, as
Naruto is prepared for fulfilling his dream of becoming the hokage.'  I'll
make a point of saying it's got the Naruto\Sakura pairing, which I happen to
believe is a lot more canon-probably at this point but which some people
disapprove of.  I'd get into why, but that's not appropriate for this
mailing list.  I'll also make a point of saying I think Naruto is a lot
smarter, at least tactically, then some people give him credit for, and it
comes through in this fic.  I also think he's smarter in other ways, as
well.

The ff.net (to be censored of the lemony scenes in a coming chapter, but the
formatting is cleaner -- mediaminer ignores some carriage returns in the
authors notes, and occasionally shows up distorted in other ways as well...
