Just starting my first (early-anticipated) readthrough, and saw this, 
and I guess I'm
just feeling pedantic today.  The goddesses and Keiichi don't live in a 
Shinto "temple";
they live in a Buddhist temple.  Every shred of the original material 
I've seen says so.
Just from the OAVs, ep 1:  Keiichi:  ("ah.  ano otera") with Belldandy 
asleep and both
of them caught out in the rain.  In the manga, the inhabitant who leaves 
the place to
Belldandy after meeting her was described using a term reserved for 
Buddhists.

"Otera" is translated as "temple", but in the original Japanese, the 
word ALWAYS
means a Buddhist establishment (a point the translation does not convey).

"Jinja" (i.e. Masaki Jinja, the jinjas from Sailor Moon and Inuyasha) is 
translated
as "shrine", and, in the original Japanese, always means a Shinto 
establishment.
