What do you think, is this just a little too long a sentence?

"Oh, my god," he gasped as he desperately tried to quell the guffaws that
were threatening to do him in. "A hardbound edition of the 'Harlequin
Romance Anthology, Volume Twenty'? Who'd have ever thought that the doc was
addicted to trashy romance novels?!"

Ranma obviously jumps to conclusions here. You would not believe what
kind of stuff I have in my library. If someone borrows it, it's her
(or his) idea, not mine. Maybe Tofu had all of it inherited. Plus, we
do not know what _else_ Kasumi borrows.

In the first segment, what is the Ranma and Akane's conversation for?
It does not seem to have _anything_ with the book. Or am I missing
something?

I like the writing style.
