Well the fact is, the speaking character is a housewife.  
If she'd wanted to be something else, she probably would
have become the heir to the school that Ranma wanted.
It's reasonable that someone who devoted their life to
taking care of a house and raising children isn't going
to think well of a daughter-in-law who isn't doing a good
job at either and doesn't even have the excuse of being
a working mother or a volunteer.  First person narratives
should be distorted of course.  For example Ranma's daughter
probably doesn't appreciate the fact that her daughter-in-law's
preoccupation with her social calender has probably helped her
salariman son's career a great deal.
